I can only reiterate what and say about this:
🌱
…. ‘Being committed to sustainability will reduce your carbon footprint and the amount of toxins released into the environment, making it safe. When we focus on sustainability, the entire world benefits and gets to live in clean, more healthy living conditions’ -
🌱
…’The air we breathe and our rivers and oceans don’t recognize local, national or even continental boundaries – so we must all take care of them for each other’-

Happy Thursday ! 🌱

Happy Monday Earthlings!
Do you sometimes feel like you get caught up in the biggness of what sustainability is, its importance and its impacts to the point it becomes alot and you end up doing nothing to contribute to a more sustainable earth?
Well, welcome to the club!👻
I have listed this four easy steps to encourage you to look at your environmental habits:
1. Know what personal actions are causing harm e.g. I use plastic bottles for water, I use straws when i get take out
2. Review what actions can easily be switched up e.g. using a re-usable water bottle instead of always buying plastic bottles
3. Change that ONE thing e.g. I will use water bottles from now on
4. Viola! You can start being imperfectly sustainable

Remeber is ok to fail, and not get it right all the time as long as you focus on improving! 😊

Happy Friday Earthlings ! 🤎
What are you looking forward to this weekend?
I will be focusing on my weekend self-care routines; mind, heart, body.
Remember to be joyful and intentional and that your happiness is in your present moment and your contentment.
Smile! 😊☺️

Have you ever asked yourself, ‘ Where do I even start when it comes to sustainability?’🤔
I’m here to break it down! I have therefore created a SUSTAINABILITY STARTER PACK’ series.
The first thing being, buy a reusable toothbrush and straw.
- Every single day we brush our teeth and every few weeks/months, we buy a new toothbrush. They are made from plastic and cannot be recycled.
-Did you know that every single toothbrush you have used is still on this earth? …Somewhere in landfill. They are not biodegrade and therefore cause unnecessary pollution.
-Did you also know that plastic straws are among the top used plastic material in the world? If we each stopped using a plastic toothbrush and a plastic straw don’t you think we have created an impact?
There you have it! ☑️ Sustainability simplified!

Does sustainability even matter when we are all living different social, economic and environmental lives?🤔
YES! It does matter! I have simplified why below.
Sustainability has 3 pillars:
🌱 Economic; this means focusing on developing systems that properly serve; the earth, the producers, the workers and eventually the consumers. This includes humane working environments, proper pricing or products and ethical production of raw material.
🌱 Social; this includes ensuring effective legislation is put in place for the benefit of our society. It also includes adequate education on social environmental issues.
🌱Environmental; this are the actions we encourage everyone to take; recycling, using less plastic, shopping local etc

Sustainability is a huge spectrum of events; while other might participate more on the social and economic bit, most of us fall under the environmental pillar. We can all do something from different fronts, therefore, DO SOMETHING!🌱

This word we are all obsessed with! What does it even mean? 🤔
My own definition:
In simple terms it is the co-existence of humans👩🏾‍🦱and the earth 🌍
Of course the earth as a natural resource provides for humans, which means it also our responsibility to be kind to the earth🤎
We can go about these in many ways and most of them include being intention and paying attention to how we use the natural resources provided freely for us.
Being sustainable does not mean being zero waste. Being sustainable is always choosing better options to protect our environment 👏🏾🗣
Wishing all the love this fine Tuesday! 🤎

This is your to bloom! 💐
🌼
Every single person is unique; some of us wild flowers, some are lillies, some are roses, some are daisies, some are orchids, some are hydrangera.
🌻
No flower competes with the other, every flower just embraces its on own beauty.
🌷
Embrace your beauty!

Happy Earthlings! 🤎
Did you know more energy from the sun hits earth every hour than the planet uses in a
year? ☀️🌞
The use of solar energy has increased at a rate of 20% each year for the past 15 years. The world added 30% more solar energy capacity in 2017.
More and more people are using solar energy as a source for powering and industrialization.
This means we can achieve the goal to solely use clean energy! How cool is that?

Clean energy is energy that comes from renewable, zero emission sources that do not pollute the atmosphere when used, as well as energy saved by energy efficiency measures🔆
Clean energy works by producing power without having negative environmental impacts, such as the release of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide.
A lot of clean energy is also renewable, including wind power, some hydro resources and solar powered energy generation.
In what ways can clean energy be used to improve you and the community around?

Happy Earthlings!
Do you actually contribute to reducing pollution?
If your answer is yes, then that’s great.
If your answer is no, then why not?
If your answer is I am not sure, then follow through.

Contributing to reduction of pollution can be done in the most basic ways:
-Picking up litter
-Carrying your water bottle
- Saying no to plastic cutlery at take outs

Such small steps make such a huge impact, you do not have to be zero waste to be sustainable. Take some actionable steps!

There is no deadline to protect the planet! 🌍Everything we do now affects the outcome of the world we live in, in the future 👩🏾‍🚀
Earth Lab encourages you to make better choices. Better smaller choices contribute to the bigger global impact.
Every single thing from our water use, electricity use, food consumption, means of transport etc.
With all the opportunities we have, there is a cost of impact.
These opportunities are the choices we have everyday.
-To take shorter showers to save water
-To use reuseable material instead of plastic
-To use electric cars
-To fully put off eleectric appliances when not in use
-To recycle and compost

What small actions are important in achieving a healthier planet? Comment below⬇️

In light of World Environmental Day, we share an excerpt from Sylvia Earle's book The World is Blue.: How Our Fate and the Ocean's Are One'
🔹
"Present climate change policies focus on the atmosphere, largely neglecting the ocean, despite ample evidence that the ocean drives and regulates planetary climate, weather, temperature and chemistry"
🔹
Did you know that that microorganisms in the sea extract more carbon dioxide than trees and other photosynthesis organisms do on land. 🐡🦠🐠
🔹
Damaging the ocean diminishes the ocean's capacity to process carbon dioxide and therefore accelerate global warming. ☄️
🔹
As much as trees are important, taking care of our oceans is key in slowing global warming 💙
