The Journal of Graduate Librarianship (JGL) is again accepting submissions! Manuscripts are welcome until Monday, April 14, 2025.

JGL invites manuscripts on any aspect or type of graduate librarianship. We especially seek manuscripts that exemplify the qualities contained in the acronym SHOP: Shared Honest Open Practice. Authors are encouraged to share their discoveries and/or experiences in a relatable way and are not required to refer to themselves in the third person.

Specifically, authors may submit their manuscripts to either of these two sections:
đź“™ Articles (peer reviewed) đź“™
Scholarly articles about graduate librarianship that report on empirical research; present case studies; or engage deeply with theory, issues concerning professional practice, and/or existing scholarly literature.
đź“™ Sharing Our Stories (editor reviewed) đź“™
Reports on personal experiences in graduate librarianship, including (but not limited to) reflections, initiatives, successes, surprises, limitations, lessons learned, epiphanies, and professional development.

đź“— Serving Graduate Students at a Community College Library đź“—
“Even though a community college library rarely attempts to offer the same depth of support found at a university, it can still serve the needs of local graduate students in two ways: through the library’s core collection of print and electronic resources, and through its on-site services, spaces, and librarian expertise.”

đź“— A Two-Phase Study Examining Graduate Library Student Knowledge Gains and Perceptions of Information Literacy Modules đź“—
“Through the analysis of student reflection writings, the researchers found that all students presented with a minimum desired level of competency postinstruction. Furthermore, the researchers found that knowledge gains were reported primarily within the area of information search strategies. Findings suggest that online learning modules on information literacy topics can be a welcome addition to the first course in a Master of Library Science program sequence and can help instill confidence in new students who are studying to become library science professionals.”
