Would y’all be interested in me selling another preset pack this year? Each year I create a new set of looks for landscape, food, and portraits. Of course you can sometimes slap them on but I’d sell them with a tutorial on how to use them in Lightroom with different subjects. I love last years and still use them frequently, but, we all change styles through time!

I started taking self portraits 6 years ago when I didn’t know what to photograph to learn how to use my camera. Since then I’ve fallen in love with every style, no matter how frustrating, and constantly am pushing to understand more and more about what makes a great photo.
Most of what I’m photographing is client work that I don’t put up on here so you’re seeing a lot of me right now and, hey, that’s fine with me!
I’m excited about an upcoming trip that I’ll be making some cooking content with and some of my classic ‘chill in nature’ stuff that feels more natural to who I am.
I’ll be releasing a preset pack of portrait presets and food presets next month for Lightroom and this is my first run on the new look. I usually go heavily stylized.
I always always always want people to know when they see my photos they can already know who took it before even looking at the name of the creator.
These will be far more accessible and still a few with my extreme flair I put on my edits.
I had the craziest dream last night where my mother asked me, “Why do you want to be so present online?” And my sleep subconscious response was, well, attention grabbing even for me.
It’s funny because I do like attention, and it’s sometimes bordering vain, but when I was young I really got chastised for how odd I looked and obviously the red hair. As soon as I could dye that, it was black, and then literally ever color under the rainbow.
I’m okay with it now and it feels strange when people compliment me on it to this day because it’s usually much the opposite of the embedded kid in me that still says, I’ll do whatever I want.

My evening was running around either chasing really harsh light or finding those really beautiful shaded areas to try and jump start my personal creativity.

Found a chair by a dumpster and dragged it a little around town and I am not upset about it. My favorite thing in photography is placing things into environments in which they don’t belong. Probably why I got into a lot of trouble as a kid 😂

Where do you feel most at home in the world? I’m somewhere between my best friends house and any mountain lake combo I have ever come across. Once in a while even in my own head! The latter is the most significant out of the three for me. What about you?

This was from a random detour the moment I crossed over from Idaho into Oregon and I would fill up my tank of gas and drive aimlessly towards any road that started with NG (National Forest) and go sight unseen for as many miles as my little SUV would take me before I hit about a half tank of gas. Sometimes just driving until the sun set and I stumbled upon this range called Anthony Lakes and it was an unknown destination I was dreaming of and manifested when I left Wyoming in search of the Pacific Northwest. It just popped into the horizon and I couldn’t NOT stop.

The power of dreams is wild to me. The power of home is even more wild sometimes!

More than anything, im an astrophotographer first and then I get to be around good food, good people, and great memories all of the other time I’m behind the camera.

My goal is to create a destination course to chase the Milky Way around Oregon next year during peak season for 3-4 days with limited enrollment so I can make sure I give everyone the time and one-on-one teaching to get those photos we all dream of when we first pick up our cameras.

To this day, still one of my favorite Milky Way captures. There’s a sense of peace and belonging when you get to look at a clear sky overhead and be patient as the camera soaks in light from millions of light years away into the sensor to show you what the galaxy looks like.
Astro photography is a very slow and very patient type of experience. Location scouting, planning the shot, and then the process of settings.
It’s the entire reason I got into photography in the first place aside from learning self portraits for when I was traveling solo.
I’m cooped up in the city right now but my heart is deep in the forest waiting for moments like this ❤️
