Just Step Sideway’s own noisemakers return with a headline show at Paper Dress Vintage on Friday 7th June 2024. We’ve heard whispers that they’ll be playing a bunch of new tracks for the first time.

London Dark-punks release their second album, and first as a full band, capturing the raw power of their live show for the first time.
Beige Banquet's second full-length album, Ornamental Hermit, is out now on all streaming platforms and vinyl via Just Step Sideways in the UK, Rennes-based Swish Swash Records (FINDOM, Volk Soup) in Europe and Future Shock Records (The Serfs, The Drin) in the USA.
Produced by Beige Banquet with the help of engineer Matt Green (Sniffany & The Nits, Artefact, Joanna Gruesome) at Head Cold Studios and mixed and mastered by David Forcier (Civic) ‘Ornamental Hermit’ captures the band in a professional studio environment, moving away from the lofi bedroom recordings of previous releases, the studio provided a perfect environment for the band to develop compositionally and explore a more textural approach.Combining layers of noise and bursts of saturated percussion, with a driving rhythm section, ‘Ornamental Hermit’ features a rich and more dynamic sound and captures the raw power of the Beige Banquet live show for the first time.

London’s wildest freak-synth-punk outfit announce their deranged debut album ‘Agitator’ and share first single ‘TV Song’
are a hellspawn originally from the grimy sheets of Tommy Cossack, now becoming a fully fledged band capable of fleshing out those initial scabs. With more power than previous, more tempo and more aggression.
Recorded by friend of the band Ryan Tennant (Rainn Byrns, Drawl) on reel to reel in his bedroom and Mixed & Mastered by David Forcier (Civic), we encounter the first full band release on more significant gear than a Tascam Portastudio.
Agitator comes as a full force blunt trauma to the head, with lead guitar riffs and synth lines acting as the cartoon birds circling above the cortex.

A lot of people have been asking for these two Beige Banquet releases, Beta (2021) and Live! Live! Live (2022), released a year apart, these tapes show two distinctly different sides of the band. The initial solo recordings of Beta are cold, minimal and drum machine driven and many of those same songs evolve into a driving and ferocious sound captured on the live album Live! Live! Live!
So here we have these reissues available for pre-order on our bandcamp, They sold out quickly the first time round so, why not grab them both?

We're excited to announce that new single and first full band studio recording, “Acid Bath”, is out now. As the lead single from their upcoming EP of the same name, it captures the tight-knit energy of their live performances and sees a more frenzied vocal approach than before as Brierley delivers a frantic performance that hurtles out lyrics in an increasingly distressed manner over the course of the song.

Todd Briefly - ‘Demos’ Volumes 1 & 2 (JSSR-011) out now. Limited edition cassettes available from the Just Step Sideways Bandcamp.
Who is Todd Briefly? You ask again. Well, Todd is an inside joke that no one gets. Todd plays lo-fi garage pop songs that are equal parts painful and hilarious. Todd is the solo project, alter ego and writing tool for Beige Banquet’s T.E. Brierley. Todd is currently hiding somewhere in East London.
'Demos Volumes 1 & 2' is the new tape by Todd Briefly and it is out today. It features a, frequently requested, reissue of 2021’s ‘Demos’ on side A along with 6 new songs, ‘Demos 2’ on Side B.
Back in Spring 2021 the Todd Briefly’s ‘Demos’ tapes sold out in days and since then we’ve had quite a lot of people asking about a reissue. So here it is, along with one additional song, ‘The Lonely Negroni’, that was penned to be released on 'Demos' but was axed for diplomatic reasons and makes its scathing return on the 'Demos Volumes 1 & 2'. 'The Lonely Negroni' is Todd Briefly at his most poppiest and painfully vulnerable, the track features lyrics that are in equal parts hilarious and devastating and is underpinned by the signature angular guitars that defined the sound of ‘Demos’.
‘Demos 2’, on the B side of the tape, features 6 new songs that explore (mostly complain about) the experiences of working in the post-lockdown-london-music-scene. The tracks vary from chaotic and humorous to a new darker style that features a spoken word stream of consciousness with brutally self-reflecting lyrics.

'Digging' the first single, and title track from new EP, is out today via Just Step Sideways Records.
Propelled by a motorik rhythm and abrasive guitars, it stomps toward a doom laden finale. Inspired by Sebastao Salgado’s anarchic photos of the Serra Pellada Gold mines in the Amazon in 1985: the track explores the relentless obsession with grasping a glint of glory from the mud. The energetic mix was captured by Chris Smith and recorded at Press Play studios In Bermondsey, London.
The full EP is now available to pre-order on the Just Step Sideways Bandcamp (link in bio) will be out digitally on 10th March 2022.
