History has been made and glass ceilings have been shattered! Regardless of how you casted your ballot, I hope we can all celebrate this monumental accomplishment for women, and especially women of color. Respect.

During the year of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and women's suffrage, women in America have made history again.

At least 132 women are currently set to serve in the U.S. Congress in 2021, surpassing the 2019 record of 127 women.

Additionally, Senator Kamala Devi Harris, the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, is set to become the highest ranking woman of our nation's 244-year existence as our Vice President elect.

In this historic year for women in leadership, we are grateful to all of our elected officials--men and women-- who use their office to advocate for others. After all, that's what Miss America women are all about.

As a North Carolina public school educator, I recognize the many challenges that lie ahead for teachers, staff, administrators, students, families, and stakeholders moving forward. However, I also know that educators are some of the most innovative, resilient and flexible members of our communities. We will do whatever it takes to continue providing a safe, high quality learning experience for all students because we love what we do and who we do it for. Please continue to be in prayer for our education system as we spend the next 28 days preparing for the 2020-2021 school year to begin! ❤️

MASKS FOR STUDENTS K-12 😷 North Carolina schools will reopen in August under Plan B, a half-capacity mix of in-person and virtual learning with additional safety measures. Districts can choose full remote learning if it is the best course of action for their students.
Masks will be required for all teachers, staff and students from kindergarten to seniors in high school.
Gov. Roy Cooper said the state of North Carolina will be providing at least 5 reusable masks for all students and teachers.
A 2 month supply of thermometers and medical grade equipment has already been shipped to school nurses across NC, according to Cooper.
Temperature checks will take place daily as students enter schools.
"We know schools will look a lot different this year. They have to in order to be safe and effective." - Gov. Cooper
