🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨ANOTHER CHILD WITH AUTISM WENT MISSING AND WAS LATER FOUND DECEASED IN A BODY OF WATER🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
I’ve talked, written about & even did a podcast on PREVENTION. Many professionals talk about various techniques, swimming lessons , medical interventions, diet changes, behavioral training and independence… not everything is one size fits all but many of these tragedies from homes to schools can be avoided… the one thing that I feel is less talked about (probably because it won’t make money) is PREVENTION. Let’s call out what it’s really about… it’s become a business versus saving lives of the most vulnerable.
PREVENTION includes gates, locks, safety devices… cameras and GPS as well but those aid after the fact (still recommended). But PREVENTING an elopement is where it should be CENTERED around.
The lives of people with autism matter… let’s help save them.
Lastly, if you see someone that appears to be out of place (like a child running shirtless or shoeless) or a child that’s in the streets alone or a person looking confused, help them! Even if it means calling 911 if you don’t want to approach. Stay close. HELP THEM.
