Having done a number of club gigs in Ōtautahi to large scale festivals across Aotearoa, floating seamlessly between ethereal Future Garage, Psydub, sinister 140s and Halftime, Misc intends to bring an emotional experience of electronic music.

This month’s ACP_MX is dished out by Sequentia.

Sequentia is a musician and promoter based in Tāmaki Makaurau, drawing influence from the bass-heavy culture of their Ōtautahi roots and their earlier experimental / improvisational projects. They host a monthly radio show on called ‘Soundbleed’, and in 2020 they founded - which functions as a monthly broadcast, a record label and a club night. In 2019 they co-established the biennial 3-day experimental music event 'Outlier Festival'.

MX12 is brought to life by Sauin, Te-Whanganui-a-Tara based multi-disciplinary powerhouse DJ.

/ˈsɑːwɪn, ˈsaʊɪn/, Irish: [ˈsˠəunʲ], Scottish Gaelic: [ˈs̪ãũ.ɪɲ]; Manx: Sauin [ˈsoːɪnʲ]
Meaning ‘Summers End’ Sauin celebrates the thinning of the veil between realms, the liminal space between the living and the world-unknown. Ritualistic, dreamlike, hazy. This mix is an intersection of ambience and dub. Like warm rain on fresh earth.
Sauin has been making sounds come out of speakers for a long time but picked up mixing properly in 2020 and digital production in 2022. Under their other moniker Birkenthot they have played all over Te-Whanganui-a-Tara, in Otautahi and at Twisted Frequency. As part of Pōneke soundsystem crew Third Eye Hi-Fi they have been involved in putting on numerous gigs around the motu, helped host several slots for Homebass on Radioactive, and have been an avid part of the electronic music scene in Pōneke for many years.

This collab explores the territory carved out by Objekt’s legendary 2018 “no-kickrollers” mix for Resident Advisor. The resulting mix probes the rich intersection between UK bass, deconstructed grime, experimental techno, and contemporary IDM.
