Is ADHD just a fad or a trendy topic?  Should everyone be considered "a little ADHD" based on occasional experiences of ADHD-like behaviors?  There's a very real misconception that everyone exhibits ADHD symptoms to some degree. It's important to recognize the prevalence and interference o...

This has always been difficult for me.
As a young new mom, who didn't know I had ADHD I always thought my measurement of worth was directly correlated with my ability to finish projects, keep the house tidy, be on time for things, and how many homemade baked goods I could master.

God is changing that definition for me. And I can only praise him for it.

unhealthy relationship. At an age where I had 0 clue who I was, or what I wanted to become, or even how I ticked and why I did things certain ways-
I became a mom.
To say I had postpartum depression was the understatement of the year.
You see- everyone looked at me, at 19, with a baby, and a struggling home life- and assumed the emotional things I was dealing with were just the result of poor circumstances.
And while I agree my stress level was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before and not helping my PPD at all- I can say with certainty that my circumstances weren't the only major contributor to my struggles.

Fast forward almost 13 years, and 4 babies later...
Here I am with my 4 day old Newborn baby boy. A precious angel, sent to me by God to care for and raise with a Husband who loves me. In a stable and beautiful home. With amazing older siblings who adore him. With family who is supportive and encouraging and prayerful for us.
And guess what?
I'm still dealing with Postpartum Depression.
I can feel it. My husband can see it. It hangs around my neck and my heart like a piece of jewelry I can't take off.
I'm treating it this time, like I treated it the last time once I recognized it for what it truly was.
And I'm waiting for said treatment to help me feel more like myself again. Less irritable. Less overwhelmed. Less questioning my sanity. Or my worth. Or my value.
Less fear of being alone with 5 kids.
Less worrying something terrible will happen.
And while I wait- I feel the need to remind anyone who has ever had a baby:
It's not always your circumstances. Sure- sometimes they can make things much worse.
But sometimes it's just your brain.
I have an ADHD brain- and studies have shown that ADHD women are much more prone to PPD than their neurotypical counterparts.
My brain likes to make me think I can't do things, when I know I can. It makes me feel lonely, and stressed when there is no real danger.
It makes me anxious for nothing, and worried about things that wouldn't matter on most days...continued in comments.

New Episode today: Motherhood and ADHD.
Realizing how often as a parent, I was struggling because of my mental structure, and chaotically wired mind.
Being a young mom, made it hard to recognize that the difficulties I was facing weren't only from my circumstances, but they were also from my brains hardwiring and lack of impulse control.
Can you relate? ❤

Hey! You! My names Lacy Estelle & I've been the writer of all things ADHD parenting on my blog Mothering the Storm [aka Lacyestelle.com] for the last 5 years.
I've finally decided to plunge fully into the Podcast🎙 world and talk about being an ADD woman.
What will we talk about?
Everything. EVERYTHING.
WHY? Because as a woman with ADHD, it effects every facet of my life.
Relationships. Motherhood. Career choices. Food habits. Financial choices...and the list goes on.
So what won't we talk about?
Well, nothing is off limits honestly.
Should we talk about you?!
Are you an ADHD entrepreneurial woman, or love someone who is and would like to be a guest on the podcast?! I'd LOVE to hear from you! Shoot me a PM on here with your email address and I'll send you a link to sign up for an Interview time.
The Podcast fully Launches December 14th on All Platforms!
What else is important to know about me? I'm a Jesus follower. I'm a mother of 3 by birth, and one by Marriage. I am married to my best friend and man of my dreams (literally, I'll tell our whole story sometime later). And, I love the colors yellow and pink. I've been told I'm lazy most of my life. That I'm "careless". That I don't know how to follow through with anything. That I talk to much, and too loud, or too soft. That I have "so much potential" If I just "cared" more. You name it, I've lived it.
Sound familiar? Be sure to like and follow my page here and watch for the new Podcast to drop December 14th!
Happy Turkey Day ladies and gents!

Better Mornings with ADHD:

🤯 More Sleep and Better Sleep Quality
🤯 Less Caffiene & Coffee- yes it was probably the hardest thing I ever did, but it's been entirely worth it. Switched to Tea or hot water w/lemon.
🤯 Skip the Carbs for breakfast- do lean protein instead, with a good Fat. Like MCT oil in a protein shake with almond milk. 😋

Mornings with ADHD are hard. Harder than most. But these small tips have helped me so much. I can't believe how much more alert I am in the morning since giving up coffee. It's so crazy.

What about you? How do you manage your Mornings with ADHD?
