PRESS STATEMENT BY THE NPP AWUTU SENYA WEST CONSTITUENCY TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF OUR ACHIEVEMENTS TO THE PEOPLE OF ASW.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good Afternoon.
I welcome you all, and a very big thank you for honoring this invitation.
It’s been 3 years and almost 8 months, since the good people of Awutu Senya West, voted against the NDC and their then Parliamentary Candidate for incompetence, failed promises, neglect, and arrogance, and gave us, the NPP, the mandate to lead and serve.
In the course of our first term in office we have made what seemed impossible a reality, and the purpose of this encounter with you, is to outline some key achievements of the NPP in Awutu Senya West under the leadership of our own Hon MP, Nenyi George Andah, and to give you the electorate, reason to give the NPP another four more years to do more for ASW.
Let me state emphatically that these are only few of the numerous achievements, which are evidence based with specific locations, and have been grouped under sectors to appreciate the persistent efforts of NPP and our Hon. MP, Nenyi George Andah.
In the area of Infrastructural Development, we have
● Successfully completed the paving of Bawjiase Market Phase 1.
● Constructed a footbridge at Awakyekwaa to connect the Awakyekwaa and Akpeshika Zongo communities and also enable students of the following Bawjiase Schools to access their various facilities with ease; Anglican Primary/JHS, Islamic Basic School, Nuriya Basic School, Awutuman preparatory School and SDA A/B Basic School.
● Constructed the Nsuekyir Bridge to ensure access to neighbouring communities during the raining seasons.
● Distributed over 600 street lights throughout Senya, Awutu, Bawjiase, Jeikrodua among others.
● Ensured the improvement of mobile network services in Nyarkokwaa and neighbouring communities.
(The good people of Nyarkokwa can now receive and make calls in the comfort of their homes without climbing hills and trees.)
● Provided a Corn Milling Machine to Nyarkokwa electoral area and constructed a corn milling shed for housing the equipment in the community.
● Currently there is work ongoing to complete the Adeiso-Bawjiase road, Senya Landing Beach wharf and Beraku durbar grounds.
● Works are ongoing on the Senya fishing Sheds, the Bawjiase Astro-turf, and Papaase 6 unit Classroom block.
● In the next couple of weeks, work is going to commence on the paving of the Senya Market, paving of Senya durbar grounds, Senya Lorry Park, 2km of roads in Senya, Beraku town roads, Bawjiase Market Phase 2, Bawjiase town roads, Bontrase town roads, Obrachire town roads, and most importantly the Kasoa-Bawjiase and the Bawjiase- Obrachire roads.
● Constructed culverts at Oframase and Kofi Ansah communities and Sarkwaa to Annan road.
● Constructed drains at the Awutu durbar grounds and Senya Lorry Park. Drains at Ahentia, Awutu and the Bawjiase-Adieso road are ongoing.
In the area of Health, we have
● Renovated and fully equipped the maternity ward of the Bawjiase Polyclinic. Facilitated the posting of a permanent resident doctor and lobbied for the current upgraded Polyclinic status.
Due to our efforts, Bawjiase Polyclinic has recorded one of the lowest mortality rates in the region.
● Organized free medical and educational health outreaches and free monthly clinics for the elderly in various communities in ASW. These communities include Awutu, Bawjiase, Senya, Bontrase among others. These outreaches offer free medical services in the area of dermatology, dentistry, eye and general care, and have directly benefited over 7000 constituents.
● As part of our efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we Donated PPEs, fridges, infrared thermometers, furniture, hospital beds, liquid soaps, veronica buckets, bowls and wheelchairs to every health center in ASW.
● Conducted fumigation exercise at markets, Schools, churches and mosques as part of the measures adopted for fighting against the COVID-19 virus.
● Provided treated mosquito nets and hospital beds across the health facilities in the district.
● Increased the number of health personnel working in the various health facilities across the Constituency from 176 in 2016 to 241 as at 2020.
● Facilitated the posting of a permanent Physician Assistant to Bontrase Health Center.
● Supported the Bonsuoko community in constructing a CHPs compound.
● Work on the Jei-Krodua CHPs compound has been commenced.
● Lobbied a District Hospital to be built in Awutu Beraku and work will be commenced soon.
In the area of Education,
● MP Scholarship scheme has been set up to provide financial assistance to brilliant but needy students in the constituency. The scholarship scheme since its inception in 2017 has benefitted over 200 students.
● Not only have we renovated the old building of the Ofaada Methodist Basic School, but we have supplied them with classroom furniture, white boards and furniture for teachers.
● With the support of Imperial Homes and the Catholic Church, we secured land and constructed an ultramodern 2 classroom kindergarten block for St. Killian School at Awutu Beraku, which has produced a conducive and innovative environment for both pupils and teachers.
● Renovated the ICT lab of Senya SHS and provided them with 40 desktop computers, projector, printer, furniture and internet services.
● Distributed over 1000 textbooks in partnership with scribble works to Awutu DA, Senya St. Theresa’s and Papaase St. Peter’s basic Schools.
● Over 4000 beneficiaries have benefited from our periodic vacation classes organised for prospective BECE candidates in the constituency.
● Renovated the Petuduase T.I Ahmadiyya Basic School teachers quarters at Krobonshie.
● The outbreak of COVID-19 has seen a rise in E-learning platforms in our Schools and I am proud to say Hon. Nenyi George Andah even before the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus piloted an E-Learning assessment for senior high Schools in the constituency with 4 Secondary Schools participating in the process.
● In our bid to ensure that the future leaders are well inclined with ICT, we have supplied about 300 desktop computers to various Schools in the constituency including Obrachire Sec/Tech, St. Killian Catholic, St. Ann’s Anglican, AME Zion A/B, Bawjiase Anglican, St. Francis Anglican and more.
● Installed solar panels, donated gas cookers & cylinders, fridges, cooking utensils and sewing machines to the Obrachire Sec/Tech Home Economics Department.
● Commenced the construction of 3 ultra-modern Community Information Centers in Senya, Beraku and Bawjiase to facilitate ICT learning and access,
In the area of Jobs and Skills development, we have
● Improved the standard of living of some constituents by providing over 650 direct jobs.
● School feeding program has been increased from 6 Schools to 59 Schools. This in turn has provided jobs for 191 cooks in the constituency.
● In addition to providing jobs for the constituents, we facilitated the acquisition of Driver’s Licenses for over a 100 drivers.
● Provided start-up capital, sewing machines, hair dryers and deep freezers to various training groups in the constituency. Some beneficiaries include K.Dola Metedot training institute at Bawjiase, Awutu Queen Mothers’ association and Ghana National Association of tailors and dressmakers.
● Set-up a soft loan scheme with over 1500 beneficiaries. These beneficiaries include Fisher folks, Traders and farmers.
In the area of Water and Sanitation,
● One of the major problems of the people of Awutu Senya West was the access to potable drinking water. To the greater glory of God, we have installed a Cluster Water System that provides water to over 35 communities in the constituency including Awutu Breku, Botoku, Small London, Ahentia, Kemoi, Bosomabena, Kwame Whettey, Chochoe, Aberful, Amadua, Bantama, Bontrase, Anim Akubrefa, Kokoben, Mfaadwen, Oshimpo, Opembo, Adawukwao, Ofadzator, Jei Krodua, Osae Krodua, Anomawobi, Gyan Nkwanta, Yamoa Nkwanta, Mankomenda, Peelco Farms, Papaase, Abro Nkwanta, Oklu Nkwanta, Kwao Bondzie, Akuffo Krodua, Zakari Kope, Patron Kope, Amuzu Kope, Dodge Kope and Gava Kope.
● We have provided boreholes at Doduokwaa, Papaase, Okwabena, Topiase, Fianko, Nyarkokwaa and Dankwa.
● In order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 6 – “Clean Water & Sanitation” and defeating open air defecation by 2030, Under the sanitation and institutional toilets program, we are at various stages of completing a 20-seater toilet facility, which comprises of seated water closet with 20 showers, laundry, borehole, furnished reception with TV, and powered with Solar at various stages of completion.

● Another 10-seater water closet toilet facility with 6 mechanized boreholes for six communities are underway. Currently the boreholes for the said toilet facilities have been drilled to enable the construction of the building itself to take off. Beneficiary towns are Oklu Nkwanta, Adawukwao, Ofaaso, Obrachire, Bontrase and Ahentia.
● We have constructed a pit latrine at Ayensuako and also provided the Ayensuako community with a borehole. We intend to upgrade this to a modern toilet facility within the first year of our next term in office.
1District 1Factory
We have had our fair share of the 1D1F and the constituency can boast of the first of its kind in Ghana proudly Awutu Senya West, APPEB Gas Cylinder manufacturing company, not only will it manufacture Ghana made gas cylinders at affordable rates it will provide direct and indirect jobs for about 600 constituents.
We also have the Imperial homes concrete processing factory, one of the finest producers of concrete blocks and other products in the constituency.
In the area of Social interventions and Support, we have
● Donated over 2000 bags of cement to support various infrastructural projects: Mosques, Schools, Churches and Community centers
● Facilitated the distribution of 40 outboard motors to the Fishing Community at Senya.
● Donated PPEs, Veronica Buckets, liquid hand wash soap, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, paper towels, bowls to various groups (Bawjiase, Senya and Awutu Market; Senya and Awutu traditional Councils; Bawjiase, Senya and Awutu driver’s association; Motorbike riders association and constituents as a means to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
● Donated food items consisting of rice, sugar and oil during the COVID-19 pandemic to the Muslim Council, Local Council of Churches, Senya and Awutu traditional councils, Private School teachers and other constituents.
● Distributed over 20,000 pieces of Nose masks to constituents.
In the area of Agriculture, we have
● Set up a Greenhouse Village in partnership with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture at Bawjiase.
● Provided training on best farming practices and pest control to over 6000 farmers in Awutu Senya West.
● Under the Planting for Rural Developments and Exports we have distributed over 10,000 Coconut seedlings to various farmers in the constituency.
● 100 farmers have benefited from the distribution of free livestock.
● Over 300 farmers benefited from the distribution of fertilizers, pesticides and weedicides.
● The Planting for food and Jobs have provided exotic vegetables seeds such Tomatoes, Pepper etc., subsidized fertilizers and free technical advice to over 10,000 farmers in the constituency.
In the area of Security, we have
● Donated desktop computers to Awutu, Bawjiase and Senya Police station.
● Handed over a pick-up patrol vehicle to the Senya Police division.
● Divisional Police Station yet to be constructed in Awutu Beraku.
Conclusion
These projects have set up the foundation for a better Awutu Senya West and together we will continue to work hard to secure the development of our constituency. We believe we have provided enough reasons for the electorate to say no to 1TermMP in Awutu Senya West.
In 3 and half years we have achieved much more than any other MP for this constituency, the future is exciting for Awutu Senya West under the leadership of Hon. Nenyi George Andah and as we proceed to the general elections 2020, we extend an open invitation to the electorates to rally behind and vote for HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Hon. Nenyi George Andah for another Four More Years To Do More For You.
