I have a lot to say. This is not some bot post, these are words straight out of a hooman brain so please read.
First, let me say that my last stream on Facebook will be today.
I'm a variety streamer, meaning I like to play and stream different games all the time. Facebook has punished me for that by changing my visibility to almost nothing.
In the beginning, I played random games, anything that I thought would be fun to watch and I would get a few people popping in and watching. When I switched to Minecraft, I got a big visibility boost. People started tuning in and I went from a couple hundred followers to a couple thousand very quickly. 2 viewers to 30 viewers. It was exhilarating to see that growth. I started to only play survival Minecraft to keep that momentum. When I found out that I was really good at Minecraft parkour, I switched to that. I got a significant boost in viewership. I peaked around 280+ concurrent viewers in a single stream. Gained thousands of followers. It was a very good time for me. I played only Minecraft parkour for months. With that though, my OG viewers, people I actually got to know and cared for, started to lose interest because it was the same thing every day. A completely understandable reasoning. When I noticed this, I took a break and played a different game for a couple of days to switch it up a bit. My viewership TANKED immediately because I wasn't playing Minecraft. It wasn't only because the viewers only wanted Minecraft. I found out that over 95% of the people that came and turned on notifications, weren't getting notifications. Even people that attend the stream EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Facebook basically muted my visibility. I went from at least 100 viewers to 10 for every stream. Even going back to Minecraft didn't help me at that point. Other streamers that I'm friends with even see that happen when switching from their normal game.
I'm not one to play the same game every day. I commend the ones that can do it. I have a vision of what kind of streamer I want to be, and one that mentally burns out playing the same thing everyday isn't it.
Facebook is ridden with "streamers" that replay recordings of themselves. Some even play a video on a loop where they don't even speak or interact with chat. It's just a video running with 10k+ concurrent viewers for hours on end. It's a money grab and I just can't get behind that.
I don't have access to a custom chatbot. I can't change my section to "Hanging Out" to just turn on the camera and interact with viewers. I can't compete with people playing fully n**e mods in games. I get copyright strikes on videos that have non-copyright music playing.
Facebook was a great place for growth for me while I was riding the wave but Twitch is my home. If you want to watch and interact with a real person and join a great and growing community, go to Twitch, make an account(it's easier than making a sandwich), and follow me there. https://twitch.tv/Crevatik There are things there that will never be done on Facebook and there's a reason why you see people jumping ship to Twitch.
Thank you to all the people that have joined Twitch with me. The people that have been there nearly every stream. The people who have joined the discord. And the people that have truly became my friend during my time on Facebook. There are too many to name without leaving out some. You know who you are. My only regret with quitting Facebook is continuing to meet more people like the ones I've met here so far.
Variety Streamer. If I get just one person per stream to learn something, laugh, or forget about their issues for a moment, I'm doing something right. This isn't really for whoever is reading this, but for me to remember for myself.
