Dr Zia-Ul-Qayyum

Dr Zia’s professional experience spans more than 22 years in a diverse range of fields. The establishment of IT institutes and organizational planning and development remain the foremost highlights of his career.
His expertise ranges from teaching and research in the field of computer science in general and applied artificial intelligence in particular, academic administration, devising policies for strategic planning and direction, project planning and management along with strong leadership and managerial skills.
Dr Zia is an experienced educationist. He earned two master degrees in Mathematics and in Computer Science and subsequently earned a doctorate from University of Leeds, Leeds – UK, specializing in Machine Learning/Semantic Information Retrieval.
Before assuming the leadership of FAST-CFD campus, he served at different teaching and administrative positions in many distinguished national and international institutions of higher learning including University of Leeds, Leeds –UK, National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Iqra University Islamabad Campus and University Institute of IT - Arid University, Rawalpindi. In addition to this, he has participated and presented at many international/national conferences and workshops. He has published in the domains of information retrieval, data mining, knowledge engineering and machine learning.
He is currently supervising a number of MS and PhD students, and is on experts’ panel of various reputed institutions. He is also actively involved in different professional activities with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and has worked on program committee of various national and international conferences.
