The jury about Musée de la Mémoire ‘PROPRIÉTÉ UNIVERSELLE’ ® : This excellent project is a book about a museum that does not exist or has not existed. It contains a lot of material, but nevertheless radiates a strong consistency and remains calming. Many aspects come together, such as photography, collage, typography, artefacts, notes and archives, and it is at the same time contemporary and timeless. It forms an alternative and clever way to walk through a museum in a free and unconstrained way. Moreover, it is very daring and innovative to let a book function as a kind of tactile museum.

We are so happy to have had the chance to collaborate with Belgian artist Linda Vinck to help create and publish her monography ‘Basic Rhythms of Being: A life in patterns’. Thank you to Linda, book designer Elena Bollette, publisher Bruno Devos and Paul Vandenbroeck, Ernest Van Buynder, and Dirk Verhaegen for the texts (EN/NL).

Linda Vinck is a visual artist with a long-standing and sustainably developed body of work centered around rhythm and pattern formation. She has a deep affinity with dance and contemporary composers. Additionally, her work is in no small part ‘coloured’ (but not determined) by a year-long stay on the Cape Verde Islands, and she is fascinated by the interplay of predictable and unpredictable micro-forms in nature.

“Sexual transgressive behavior is a major social problem anywhere in the world and one that is terribly taboo. I had to deal with such a traumatic experience myself. For seven years I did not dare to talk about it. Through making this photobook, I managed to talk about this experience more easily. ‘Bloom’ contains photos of my own healing process. The pictures show feelings I was dealing with throughout the process. The dark photos represent the somber and difficult moments and the light photos represent hope and healing.

My book also shows eleven portraits of women who had to deal with sexual transgressive behavior too. Some of the women wanted to share their story in the book. The unidentifiable portraits depict the taboo surrounding this subject as where the plain portraits show strength and courage. All the women who participated in this project played an incredibly important role in my healing process. Because of this, I have found hope and strength again.” -

Special editions | Refuge | Lara Gasparotto | Nu à l’hibiscus | Forêt d’Ardenne

Refuge is the sixth book by Lara Gasparotto, covering the past years of her family life and trips abroad. Constructed from Gasparotto’s personal collection of photographs, including oil pastel works, friends in nature, animals, her young daughter, and beautiful landscapes, it accounts for Gasparotto’s adoration for dwelling in nature. An art book personally edited by Gasparotto, Refuge offers an intimate encounter with her day-to-day life using analog photos and was designed in collaboration with her sister Lissa Gasparotto who illustrated the flower on a linen-bound front cover.

The special edition includes a first edition of Refuge alongside a signed and numbered print.
