TEMPO would like to welcome our latest member organization:

-

At the 65th Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Blink GFE (Greek Film Editors) will officially introduce itself to the film community. The idea for Blink GFE emerged in November 2021 during the festival’s special focus on film editing, and the union formally launched in early 2024 with 54 editors and colorists from cinema, advertising, and television. The event will take place on Friday, November 8, at 18:00, in the Green Room of Olympion starting with a press presentation and Q&A and will continue with a meet-and-greet with film students from Thessaloniki's University who are keen to meet our community, learn more about editing as a career path and find out how they can benefit by joining Blink GFE as student members.

Blink GFE aims to strengthen the artistic and professional value of editing and color grading in Greece while connecting it with global trends and best practices. In addition, the “GFE” designation now appears next to members’ names in this year’s featured Greek films, highlighting their professional standing and contribution to the field.

The presentation will be led by editors Smaro Papaevangelou GFE and Giannis Chalkiadakis GFE, with a guest appearance by Giorgos Mavropsaridis ACE, BFE, GFE.

Edimotion, one week to go !

25/09/2024

INTERNATIONAL FILM EDITORS FORUM (IFEF)

🗓 Saturday, 12 October 2024
⏰ 12:00 – 17:00
📍 Alte Feuerwache, Melchiorstraße 3, 50670 Cologne

➡️ Unlike the pandemic years 2020 and 2021, where only online versions of the IFEF were possible, in 2024 the participating film editors will meet again on location in Cologne for an intensive five-hour exchange in large and small groups. After all, nothing beats the personal encounter in the analog space – which can then be continued in the virtual world 🤩

In recent years, the IFEF has attracted editors from over 30 different countries to Cologne, including far-flung travelers from countries such as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Gambia, India, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand and the USA.

👉 The main topic this year is:
The role and value of the film editor in the production process

After last year's IFEF focused on artificial intelligence and its impact on the profession, the theme of 2024 builds on this in a sense, with a focus on the new realities in the context of budgeting and pay. Is the actual value of the work of film editors reflected in their salaries and production planing? Does their role need to be redefined for the future in order to preserve the profession in the long term? 🤔

The IFEF is aimed at film editors who are actively involved in advancing their profession and its working conditions in their respective countries. Participants are given the opportunity to exchange their experiences, and together develop solutions that address the various challenges facing the profession all over the world. Elements of the workshop format „world café“ are used. The facilitator this year is Margret Albers.

❗️Participation is only possible with prior registration and limited to a maximum of three people per country.

🔗 Please register by 7 Oct. using the online registration form: https://www.edimotion.de/en/information-in-english/ifef-application/
We request a participation fee of 15 Euros to cover the lunch and tea time catering ❤️☕️: https://t.rausgegangen.de/tickets/international-film-editors-forum-1

📧 If you have any questions, please write to curator Dietmar Kraus at the email address: [email protected]

→The IFEF is supported by TEMPO - Federation of Film Editors Associations.

INTERNATIONAL FILM EDITORS FORUM (IFEF)

🗓 Sa., 12 October 2024
⏰ 12:00 – 17:00

The role and value of the film editor in the production process

I bet I know a few people who could take this survey from a film student in Berlin.
Job

———————————-

From: Ilya Gavrilenkov

Subject: Place of a film editor in a filmmaking process.

While studying and working in different countries and on different projects i couldn’t help but notice that while film editing is without a doubt seen as a crucial part of a filmmaking process, film editors themselves and their responsibilities are perceived very differently. And it became very interesting to me to dig a little bit deeper into the topic and make a small research.

I would highly appreciate if you can help me with that by sharing this link for the survey inside our professional community. The survey is rather short so it shouldn’t take long to take it and is absolutely anonymous.

Here is the link:

https://1212812896.formaloo.co/n0ka1d

Thank you in advance!

Warm regards,
Ilya
