⭐️It’s not the END but, a new BEGINNING⭐️

Dear Groovies,

Find Your Groove started multi-faceted with the desire to find and connect locals to resources and support. We aimed to support nonprofits, local businesses and community initiatives. We dreamed of laughing and crying with one another. We strived to create a community of those looking for and engaging in wellness practices.

Over the last year and a half, we made all of our dreams come true. Not to sound cheesy, but we really did find our groove.

Our grooves are unique, funky and full of life and growth.

With that in mind, we will be airing our LAST EPISODE on November 21, 2023.

Our hearts are sad in leaving this project but, please know that this is not the end! We are following our grooves, hearts, and creative paths - and we truly could not be any more excited for the next chapter. You definitely have not seen the last of us!

Be sure to follow KiLey White and for updates on any new projects and new shows! 👀

We recognize that Find Your Groove would not be what it was without the gracious support from the community, and of course, our incredible team. We truly appreciate each and every person who has shown us love over the past year and a half.

🩷THANK YOU🩷

Stay well. Be well.

Truro Housing Outreach Society with Shelby Thompson

As soon as you start chatting with Shelby, you can tell she has a firing passion for equitable housing for all. Shelby is a Housing Support Worker at the Truro Housing Outreach Society, and has been recently been publicly recognized for her commitment and actions of advocacy as a receipting of a  ‘Truro Famous’ award (Huge congrats, Shelby!!!).

Shelby talks with us about what Truro Housing Outreach Society is, how she got involved, how others can get involved, what her role as a housing support worker entails, what is in store for the future of Hub House (their last resort shelter) and what she is noticing in our small home town of Truro.

Truro Housing Outreach Society is a crucial service for our community, which we are so so so grateful to have. Providing shelter and resource navigation services, they are a core support for locals and those passing through.

⚠️‼️ Important report from Nova Scotia’s Drug Harms Alert - M**A contaminated with Fentanyl in Dartmouth, NS

Don’t use alone, if possible. Overdose Prevention Sites support harm reduction by providing equipment and a safe and caring space for people to use drugs. These sites are equipped to respond to overdoses and connect people to important health and social services:
- ReFIX Halifax Overdose Prevention Site:
Address: 2107 Brunswick St. Halifax; Phone: 902-209-9370
- PeerSix Overdose Prevention Site
Address: 75 Prince St. Sydney; Phone: 902-567-1766

If you are using alone, call the National Overdose Response Service (NORS) phone line at 1-888-688-NORS. It is a 24/7 phone line available for anyone in Canada to call and the operator will "spot" you while you use. For more information visit www.nors.ca.
Alternatively, call a trusted support person and let them know you are using alone and provide them with your location.
Start with a test dose. Start low, go slow.

Have naloxone available, even if you aren’t intentionally using opioids. Although naloxone only works to reverse opioid overdoses, there is no harm in administering it if you are unsure what kind of overdose you are witnessing. Naloxone is available for free from most community pharmacies and other community locations, including needle distribution and disposal organizations. For more information about where to get a free naloxone kit and how to use it, visit http://www.nsnaloxone.com/

Call 911 in the event of an overdose. Know your rights under the Good Samaritan Act.

We began this show about a year and a half ago. Ki has been honest and has stated publicly she did not want to move back to her hometown but, found herself back here after living away for six years.

In response to these emotions, we sat together and made this show - to highlight how to care for ourselves, advocate for mental health and connect to this community.

Over the last year, we have grown and evolved into something so special. We can now honestly say we love our hometown and the path it has created for us personally and professionally. Thank you Truro for being the ground to which we grow on 🌱and a special thank you to the Truro Famous Awards for acknowledging this work 🐛🦋

We are beyond thankful

🚨NEW EPISODE 🚨

If you’ve lived in Colchester for sometime, you are likely familiar with the Colchester County branch of United Way. Executive Director Sarah Flemming isn’t shy in expressing her passion for creating opportunities for a better community, more specifically community access. We highlight growing up in Truro (moving away, coming back - a familar story for many), housing, and the general needs of our community. Not to be too cheesy, but being both born and raised in Colchester, talking to Sarah made us feel hopeful about the future in this county.

⚡️NEW EPISODE ⚡️

Disclaimer: This episode contains content of grief and a very brief acknowledgment of suicidal thoughts. It is important to note this episode does contain post-grieving processes of the events of April 18-19, 2020. With that, there will be nothing about those events nor post-events including the inquiry. This is a conversation about one's grief and how it has shaped their reality.

This is an episode we hold extremely dear to our hearts, as Taylor opens up her heart and soul to us, allowing us to have a glimpse into her journey with navigating grief. Aside from being a Truro local, Taylor is a mom, daughter, an incredible writer and a huge advocate for grief. Grief is a complicated emotion/experience that a lot of us shy away from - but not for Taylor.

Imperfectly Taylor is a blog that Taylor started approximately three years ago to support herself through an extremely difficult time. As someone who tends to bottle emotions up, Taylor expresses the role that Imperfectly Taylor has played in supporting herself through the grieving process, and how society shapes the way we think about grief and what grief is “supposed” to look like.

We love Imperfectly Taylor (especially the Music Monday posts), and we have no doubt that you will love it just as much.

Coping with grief is difficult. Let’s talk about it.

⬇️Sappy post ⬇️

We have such a full heart leaving our team meeting. I think as co-hosts we have found ourselves caught up in the bookings, editing, emails and business duties that we have forgotten to ask for help. Not that we haven’t asked for help before but, haven’t always been honest with ourselves about what we can handle and what we can’t. We are also two very independent people so asking for anything can be challenging.

We were explaining to our team tonight that Find Your Groove is incredibly important to us. Almost like our baby! One teammates reminded us that every baby needs a babysitter. It’s so true - it’s takes a village to run this show and we are beyond grateful for ours.

We now have FIVE of us on this team and that doesn’t include the FOUR board members supporting us.

We have nine people in the village to count on and who believe in this work as much as we do. Moral of the story - ask for help AND utilize it.

Give a round of applause for our team. We COULD NOT do this without them!

(LOL obviously Madds couldn’t make it but was most definitely there in spirit)

Remember that super cool crocheted sweater that went viral a while back??? Yup? Well that was Grace!

Grace from Grace’s Handmades spills the tea about her unique journey with crocheting, including absolutely blowing up on Instagram over night, her love for Maud Lewis, and some not so fun facts about fast fashion + so called ‘crocheted’ goods.

In all honesty, we could have talked to Grace for HOURS! And…we have a theory about the future, all of which we share with her of course.

Super cool human. Super cool artwork.

Be sure to check out all of the goodies on Grace’s Handmades website - you’ll be able to find her patterns for sale!
