October is Indigenous Peoples Month ‼️

The Philippines' indigenous peoples have preserved most of their pre-colonial culture, social institutions, and livelihood patterns. They tend to reside in remote places with little access to basic social services and few opportunities for mainstream economic activities, education, or political participation. Commercially significant natural resources such as minerals, forests, and rivers, on the other hand, are concentrated in their locations, rendering them subject to development aggressiveness and land grabbing.

"To our healthcare workers, there is no rest. Even at home my mom can't share meals with us since she has to continue social distancing. She has to keep her mask on while trying to relax, too. And imagine, checking the online news feed at the end of the day...and seeing the continuous rise of COVID-19 cases.

Here is a piece for our modern-day frontliners like my mom. In light of this, please register to vote and as importanly, vote for the people who will give healthcare workers the compensation they deserve."

Building Resilience during the Pandemic, Sustaining the Momentum Toward Recovery, and Continuing the Legacy of Infrastructure Development are the three key pillars that guided the 2022 proposed budget plan.

House of Representatives Speaker Lord Allan Velasco said in a statement that the submission of the proposed budget to the House marks the start of the budget season, when lawmakers can carefully scrutinize the executive's financial allocations.

The top three departments to receive the biggest allocations are the (1) Department of Education (including State Colleges and Universities, and the Commission on Higher Education) with P773.6 billion, (2) Department of Public Works and Highways with P686.1 billion, and (3) Department of the Interior and Local Government with P250.4 billion.

During the commencement of the 2022 budget season, the Commission on Audit (COA) also continues to report findings on this year's expenditure errors and deficiencies.

The Indigenous People of Tagbanua Tandulanen, thru Attys. Rainier Madrid and Peter Paul Danao, requests the offices of Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Local Government Unit of El Nido to cancel, revoke, and/or deny any application for building permit and/or the building permit, or their license itself for over seven Ayala-owned businesses and/or projects in El Nido, Palawan, including the Lio Airport, the Lio Estate, and the Miniloc Island Resort.

The tribe claims 'rampant and widespread' proliferation of illegal transfers and conversion of their ancestral domain/lands to the tribe's grave damage and prejudice.

In March 31, the DOT, thru Engr. Christopher V. Morales, dismissed the tribe's letter of complaint. The Office said that they do not issue permit, license or authority to operate, and such power belongs to the LGU of El Nido, Palawan only.

The LGU of El Nido is yet to respond to the tribe's request.

Déjà vu?

Nilagay muli ni Pangulong Duterte ang NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, at Rizal sa Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) simula March 29 hanggang April 4 dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng COVID-19 cases sa bansa.

Ang tanong ng taumbayan, nasaan ang ayuda, suportang pangkabuhayan, at solusyong medikal matapos ang isang taon?

Sa gitna ng maraming isyung kinahaharap, tila walang tinag ang Pangulong Duterte kahit maraming bansa na ang naka-ungos sa Pilipinas. Paatras ba ang direkson natin laban sa COVID-19? Kanino na naman kaya isisisi ang muling pagtaas ng mga kaso?
