If you’re a parent or ever fed a child, the last line of this quote sounds familiar😂 That sweet-faced darling asks for a sweet/crunchy/gooey treat right before dinner. Your response: “Baby I can’t let you have that now. It’ll ruin your appetite!” It’s the same way with us. Sweets should be eaten in moderation; if you overindulge, you may end up with a stomachache, cavities, or worse! As children of God, our sweets are binge watching 4 different series back-to-back on a streaming service, reading & listening to the latest greatest secular music or books, spending all day on social media. This is a breeding ground for problems! We as children of God must be mindful of what we’re ingesting into our spiritual bodies. The Word of God is what sustains us. It’s our daily bread(Matthew 6:11); milk for the new Believer(1 Peter 2:2) and meat for the mature(Hebrews 5:14). Eat this and eat it well! Too much social media or the slow jams playlist I put together can set me up for a stomachache. If I keep feeding my flesh and not my spirit, I’m going to experience less: spend less time in the Word, pray less, heart God’s voice less. I have to practice sitting down with God at the table daily to feed my spirit man and stay in tune with Holy Spirit. Let me be clear: God gave us all a personality and we have our likes and hobbies, but if our spiritual diet is unbalanced we’re going to be out of sync with Him, and we can’t have that. Feed your mind & spirit the things that will help you grow and mature in your faith.
