🍊🍊 ¡ your poster sales have helped us raise £298.98 for Refuge ! 🍊🍊

After so many of our lovely readers copped one, we've managed to raise £298.98 for Refuge, a UK based charity which provides shelter for women and children escaping domestic abuse. This translates to funding 19 women having essentials for her first night's stay at a shelter, or five nights stay for a women and her children.

Each poster is made from 100% recycled paper, printed by a Northern-based company, and curated by an independent designer, Marley Carey.

Today we celebrate one whole year since we launched the Candid Orange website. After just two months of planning, organising and pulling together the skills we had, what started as a small idea between friends was out in the open.

Along the way, we've learnt more than we had ever expected and had the incredible luck to work with some wonderful people and engage with brilliant writing. From a team of four, we've grown to over 40 — each of us volunteers, each looking for experience in the face of industries which are ever more difficult to break into. We've had over 37,000 individual people from all over the world read some of 377,118 words on the site. Although it might not be the biggest independent magazine out there, it's undoubtedly grown into anything more than we would have imagined back in that first lockdown.

Unfortunately, we've not had the chance to perfect the plans we'd hoped to share today as a celebration of everyone's hard work and time put into making the platform. With exams and deadlines piling up, we've instead decided to properly celebrate our year and one month birthday. Life gets in the way of passion projects sometimes, but in a world of endless productivity where you're pressured to show off your many achievements, we wanted to share our moments of disorganisation. So keep your eyes peeled for some exciting events in a few weeks time 🍊

From all the founders, thank you to everyone who's shared the CO journey so far! We can't wait to see what the future holds.
