President Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 elections has the Democrats in a scramble to find a worthy replacement. As for who might take his place: Vice President Kamala Harris seems to lead that list.

But another, more concerning question lingers: how do you replace a Presidential candidate so late in the game? After all, the Democrat Party is now the first major party to select a nominee outside of the traditional primary and caucus process in over 50 years.

The Fed is now saying the U.S. economy is slowing along with inflation.

The Federal Reserve’s latest Beige Book reports slight economic growth over the past three months. Significantly, five of the 12 districts reported flat or declining economic activity. That’s three more districts than in the previous report.

It’s a slowdown that businesses expect to continue through the end of the year. Unemployment also ticked higher and is now at 4.1%. At the same time, turnover in the labor market declined.

The walls appear to be closing in for President Joe Biden as more top Democrats ask him to step aside.

According to a story first broken by Republican operatives on the Ruthless podcast, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) spoke with Biden over the weekend, making the case for him to leave the 2024 presidential race.

The news was seemingly confirmed by ABC’s Jonathan Karl, who said Schumer’s staff wouldn’t deny the meeting took place.

President Joe Biden is now setting his sights on the Supreme Court.

The Washington Post reports Biden is working on a series of major reforms, including term limits and an enforceable code of ethics. It comes amid a series of ethics complaints from Democrats against Conservative justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Biden has grown increasingly critical of the Court in recent years and has grown even more vocal in light of its ruling on presidential immunity that favored Donald Trump.

Biden is also reportedly considering a constitutional amendment that would override the Supreme Court’s ruling. It’s not the first time President Biden has floated the idea of making changes to the high court. Before the 2020 election, Biden refused to say whether he would add justices to the bench.

Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.) was found guilty on all 16 counts in his federal corruption trial, including charges of corruption, bribery, obstruction of justice, acting as a foreign agent, and conspiracy. Prosecutors say Menendez and his wife accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars, a car, and mortgage payments from three businessmen who wanted his help.

In exchange, Menendez, who served as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, helped steer billions of dollars in American aid to Egypt, where one of the businessmen had ties to government officials. He’s also accused of seeking to influence criminal probes as well. Menendez said he was shocked by the verdict and plans to appeal.

President Joe Biden is back to bashing Donald Trump. He spoke at the NAACP National Convention yesterday and didn’t shy away from his anti-Trump rhetoric, often laced with curse words. Biden said criticizing the former president’s actions is “fair game,” despite the bipartisan call to cool the political temperature.

The president even said that Trump called the National Guard on “peaceful” George Floyd protesters. Biden also praised Vice President Kamala Harris and said she would make a great president.

Local law enforcement officials say they tried to warn a command center about the gunman before he killed one person and tried to assassinate the former president last weekend in Pennsylvania.

According to a local news outlet, a Beaver County police officer spotted Thomas Matthew Crooks with a rangefinder while he was on the roof. The policeman took a picture of him and warned a command center. After Crooks momentarily disappeared from the scene, the same countersniper officer sent a warning again.

According to the Daily Mail, law enforcement warned of the shooter an hour before he carried out his act. The picture was then circulated at the Secret Service.

Cheatle admitted that ultimate responsibility rested in her hands, however, despite the tragic event, she said she isn’t stepping down.

According to the Daily Mail, Cheatle also told ABC News that the building where the shooter launched his attack had a “sloped roof,” which she claimed was a safety concern for law enforcement. For that reason, the building was only secured from the inside.

Donald Trump survived a weekend assassination attempt days before he is due to accept the formal Republican presidential nomination, in an attack that will further inflame the U.S. political divide and has raised questions about the security failures.

Authorities identified a rally attendee who was shot and killed as Corey Comperatore, 50, of Sarver, Pennsylvania, who Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro told reporters was killed when he dove on top of his family to protect them from the hail of bullets.

“Corey was an avid supporter of the former president, and was so excited to be there last night with him in the community,” Shapiro said, adding, “Political disagreements can never, ever be addressed through violence.”
