The Geronimo Hotshots fight the most intense wildland fires in the nation.

When Americans began living in Wyoming and Montana in significant numbers, wildfire became a concern. One of the pioneers of firefighting techniques that our Forest Service Service is beginning to revisit was Hans Kleiber himself. But before him, the First Nations peoples knew forest fire, and learned to embrace its reality. The Apache Nation continues to draw on that wisdom and the legendary courage of the Apache people. An elite group of 20 individuals is sent all over the west to tackle the hardest wildfire-related tasks. Their story is more than incredible. Here's just a part of it, in their own words...
