'Escape from New York' is 39 years old today, one of my favourite Carpenter films.

Other than a few establishing shots, most of the film was made in St. Louis, not New York.

Ennio Morricone composed the magnificent score for my movie THE THING. Because we weren’t finished editing the movie, Ennio had to score without seeing a complete picture. When we put everything together, there were gaps dramatically where I would have wanted music. So I went off and scored a couple of simple pieces that filled in.

I’m thrilled to announce deluxe soundtrack bundles for THE THING, out on Sacred Bones Records and Waxwork Records! The bundles include Ennio Morricone’s original score as well as an unreleased collection of ‘Lost Cues’ recorded by me in a deluxe slipcase. Both labels have their own exclusive color vinyl for these releases. Out May 5.
