📣Lexington Three Announces eLearning Day for Tuesday, January 9th!📣

Lexington County School District Three announces that Tuesday, January 9th will be an eLearning Day for all students and staff members across the district due to the potential for high winds and severe weather resulting from a strong storm system that is moving into the area overnight. The National Weather Service is predicting winds to increase throughout the morning on Tuesday with gusts possibly reaching 45 mph by late morning and continuing into the late afternoon/evening hours. There is also a threat of severe thunderstorms and tornado potential. Therefore, out of concern for the safety of our Panther students and staff, Lexington Three will switch to an eLearning Day on Tuesday, January 9th.

📌What is an eLearning Day?
An eLearning Day in Lexington Three means that students do not physically come to school. Instead, they complete assignments remotely from the safety of their home. More detailed information can be found below.

📌eLearning Details:
All students in grades K4 through 12th grade will have eLearning assignments to complete on Tuesday, January 9th.

Students in grades K4 through 2nd grade will have written assignments to complete that will be sent home on Monday, January 8th. Students in the 3rd through 12th grades will have assignments to complete via Google Classroom (Chromebooks will be sent home on Monday, January 8th). Unless otherwise indicated by the teacher, all assignments should be turned in by no later than Friday, January 19th. Please note that internet access is not a requirement for any of these assignments to be completed. Students who have assignments that need to be completed using a Chromebook will have them loaded onto their Chromebook prior to leaving school on Monday, January 8th. If internet access is not available at home, the completed assignments should be left open on your child’s Chromebook as they will automatically sync and update once the Chromebook is back inside the confines of our district internet system. All students in grades 3rd through 12th should bring their Chromebooks back to school on Wednesday, January 10th. Any student who has questions about an assignment can email his/her teacher.

Our Office of Child Nutrition staff members are sending home food bags with each student on Monday, January 8th. Please be sure to check your child’s bookbag for these items.

📌Afterschool Events:
All afterschool-related events to include sports games, sports practices, the Afterschool Program, meetings, classes at the Lifelong Learning Center, etc. are canceled on Tuesday, January 9th.

📌Please note that the Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees meeting that was planned for Tuesday, January 9th has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 16th at 6 pm at the District Office.

📌Please stay tuned for updates regarding the school schedule on Wednesday, January 10th. Detailed information will be sent out to Panther families on Tuesday, January 9th via our regular communication system including phone, text, email, the Lex 3 website, the Lex 3 app and social media.

Due to the possibility of a severe weather threat in our area tomorrow, Greenwood School District 50 has canceled school tomorrow, January 9, 2024. All schools and offices will be closed. Students and staff will not report to work and all after-school activities have been canceled.

Based on guidelines from the SCDE’s Office of Transportation, school buses can not be safely operated with sustained winds of 30 MPH or greater or wind gusts greater than 40 MPH. Per the Greenwood Emergency Preparedness Center, the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory beginning 10 am today through 10 pm Tuesday for our area.

Wind gusts are forecasted to be between 35 MPH - 55 MPH and there is also a potential for heavy rain. The severe weather could cause tree limbs to be blown down and power outages in our area.

February 19, 2024 will be an eLearning day for students and staff and serve as the inclement weather makeup day.

Saluda County Schools will operate on an eLearning day on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 due to the potential of wind gusts of 45-50 miles per hour, severe thunderstorms, localized flash flooding, and possibly tornado activity. All sporting/school events and practices are canceled also. All schools and offices are closed tomorrow.

Las escuelas del condado de Saluda operarán en un día de aprendizaje electrónico el martes 9 de enero de 2024 debido a la posibilidad de ráfagas de viento de 45 a 50 millas por hora, tormentas eléctricas severas, inundaciones repentinas localizadas y posiblemente actividad de tornados. Todos los eventos y prácticas deportivas/escolares también se cancelan. Todas las escuelas y oficinas estarán cerradas mañana.

IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE: TUESDAY, JAN. 9, 2024, WILL BE AN ELEARNING DAY FOR EDGEFIELD CO. SCHOOL DISTRICT

Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, will be an eLearning day for the Edgefield County School District due to the possibility of sustained winds in excess of 45 miles per hour, damaging hail and tornadoes which will not allow us to operate safely. This means there will be no on-campus instruction or activities (including sports) and students will complete assignments online.

As an approved eLearning district, we can move to an eLearning day as opposed to making up this day in person later in the year.

Please be advised of the following information that has been previously shared regarding eLearning and adhere to the greatest extent possible, as we recognize this is short notice:

It is beneficial for students to have reliable internet during school hours. However, we recognize not all students and staff have access to reliable internet when working virtually from home.

Schools should ensure students know how to download and access eLearning assignments within the Google platform, so students can work offline. Paper packets may be used on a limited (case-by-case) basis for students who may not have a Chromebook due to the ability to use appropriately and/or students lacking internet access.
