What's the price of taking a stand?

If you want an example, look no further than our somewhat controversial episode on teens and dating from Season 6. (EP 26)

This particular episode got a lot of attention, but not without exposing the podcast—and our family members—to some nasty personal criticisms and online attacks.

However, our family - especially our courageous youngest daughter Gaby Alessi, who bore the brunt of the negativity - didn’t back down.

In fact, we doubled down and stood firm for what we believe - even using the criticism to inspire some new merchandise that's been selling like hotcakes. (Yappuccino, anyone?)

That's something every parent needs to remember.

When you are attacked for what you believe, think less of the people criticizing you, and more about the people you are standing for and the children who need you to guide them with strong principles and enduring values.

You will never go wrong by standing for what is right.

So, if there's a lesson to be taken from Season 6, it’s this: Be brave enough to tackle the hard topics with your family, stand steadfast in your beliefs, and be willing to endure the criticism that comes with it.

Your family will thank you.
