Which Day is your favorite in April?

I can be tough. I can be soft. I can command a room. I can be loud. I can be quiet. I can nurture. I can teach. I can love. I can protect. I can impress and guide others. I can choose to follow. I can change my mind.

I can continually learn. I can break boundaries. I can stand up for what I believe in. I can dress myself up or dress myself down. I can be a homemaker. I can have a career. I can be both and find a balance.

I can grow another human being, give birth to it and then feed it with nothing but my body. I can then raise that little human I created. i can also raise one I didn’t create. I can be a mother.

I have never been told there was something I couldn’t do or somewhere I couldn’t be. Maybe because I wouldn’t have accepted that as an answer. If I wanted something in life there would be work. We earn in life what we out forth the effort for. We are all gifted, our talents all differ, and what we choose to do with them is what makes the difference.

Being a woman is a power. And, you and I, CAN do all of things above and so much more.

What is the history of Groundhog Day?
-
Why do we rely on basically an oversized dirt digging, grumpy rodent to help us predict whether we will see spring earlier or if winter will drag on?
-
I live near Pennsylvania which is the home of Punxtawney Phil. The famous groundhog that has these amazing weather predicting skills & This is how it goes: When Phil wakes up, he will leave his den and if he sees his shadow, he will go back in his den for 6 more weeks and this will result in 6 more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, he won't immediately return to his den, then spring will come early!

Okay, so maybe you know this...so here is the official history:
February 2, 1887 was the first official Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The annual ritual has roots in pre-Christian traditions and was brought to the U.S. by German immigrants. The original origin is rooted in a pagan celebration that celebrates the changing of the seasons or that spring is coming. (Sited from History.com) "Germans developed their own take on the legend, pronouncing the day sunny only if badgers and other small animals glimpsed their own shadows. February - The month of candy, paper hearts, and lots of love.

February is another one of my favorite months. I am a winter lover but this month along with all the love is a month of giving and kindness. Most of the National Calendar dates are centered around this.
