Uruan Councillor to Empower Over 90 Constituents, Facilitates Training of 10 Fashion Designers
..Holds Thanksgiving Service/ Constituency briefing Sunday, 6th February

The Councilor representing Central Uruan Ward IV in Uruan Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Nsikak Edem will on Sunday 6th February, 2022, empower over 90 constituents and present record of service to the entire Central Uruan Ward IV of Seven villages.

Hon. Nsikak Edem who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the 7th Uruan Legislative Council, made this known yesterday while chatting with Youths of the Area immediately after the House Plenary.

Hon. Edem said his understanding of being a Councilor and Public Servant is service, and maintained that such service should be evident on those who entrusted him with their mandate.

'Sunday 6th Feb. will be the day I will publicly briefed my ward and allow them to criticize me as their councillor, because they gave me the mandate and I must account for my services so far but for the record, I have sponsored four motions in the floor of the house, these are motions covering education sector, health sector and social service, as a matter of fact, I'm currently working on turning my first motion into bill, and when passed and assented will become a bye Law.'

'The Sunday event will start with Thanksgiving Service at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (Great Faith Parish) Nung Oku Uruan, I can't do without giving thanks to God, I came under the mandate tag of 'Nsikak-Abasi2020' and so far I have seen that nothing is too big for God to handle.'

'After thanksgiving, we will proceed to St. Gabriel's Primary School, Nung Oku Uruan where I give account of my stewardship and empower over 90 of my constituents.

'Currently ten persons are undergoing training on fashion design, on that day, I will give upliftment grant to 20 petty traders; this is to enable them boost their existing businesses, I will share Wrappers and sowing stipend to 30 persons; 10 final year students will be given project grant (you know this one group of people I can't joke with), and to encourage literacy, I have concluded plans to facilitate Jamb forms for 20 Jambites, names and screening of prospective jambites have been collated, we are waiting for registration to commence from February 12 and we will move them for registration.'

'I want to appreciate my people for the trust, confidence and mandate they gave me. I don't want it to be a oneoff thing, that's why on that day, the number one Legislator in Akwa Ibom State, my boss and mentor , the Speaker AKHA Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey will graced the occasion and will also unveil the Nsikak-Abasi Foundation.

'The whole idea of the Foundation is to sustain the initiative, I'm looking at a situation after those 10 persons perfect and graduate from training, the Foundation is able to give them sowing machines and other necessary accessories, a situation those who benefited from Jamb forms purchase, get admission and the Foundation is able to support them with at least tuition fee.'

'We are ready for the Sunday event, I use this opportunity to invite the entire Uruan and lovers of good thing in Akwa Ibom State to the event, join me in Thanksgiving and as I brief my ward.'

Celebrating Mr Speaker:A man of few words.

The Rt Hon. Speaker of the 7th State House of Assembly Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey is indeed a man of many paths. The Uruan State Constituency Representative grabbed the exalted position of Speakership just like a bolt from the blues.
Before then, he made no noise about his interest nor campaign about it, yet God who resides in the secret heart of men and providence were kind to him and he remains eternally grateful to God and other key apparatus of Government .
It is however without doubts that Mr Speaker has returned peace to the hallowed chamber of the legislature and also ensured that there is a cordial relationship with other arms of Government under his watch as every segment of Government, civil societies and even non -governmental organizations are assured of a fair and better deal.
And finally, Uruan his constituents and his mega political zone Uyo Senatorial District could not have asked for more as every Tom, Dick and Harry have some dividends of democracy to show for it as exemplified in the empowerment programmes and financial assistance given to youths in the State to enhance their business or entrepreneurial skills and check over dependence on white collar jobs and many more.
Please accept my Congratulations Mr Speaker, My brother and a Happy birthday!

NAUS Stakeholders pass vote of confidence on Nsikak Edem
..General Congress to hold in two weeks time
.
National Association of Uruan Students (NAUS) Worldwide Stakeholders, today, passed vote of confidence on the Worldwide President Comrade Nsikak Edem, this came at a wider Stakeholders meeting of the umbrella body.

Moving the motion, Comrade Effiong Asuquo a former NAUS President Uniuyo Chapter who doubles as the Chapter's Stakeholder's Chairman, said that Comrade Nsikak Edem has performed excellently well during his tenure, saying the Worldwide President has raised the bar in NAUS leadership. The motion was adopted by the general house as it was seconded by Prince Ekerette Nkanga.

Earlier, the Pioneer President of the umbrella body, Pastor Bassey Isin advised students to shun cultism and what he called over dependence on politics.

Pastor Isin who recounted exploits of the Association in time past, said that Uruan student's leaders weren't known nor identified as cultists, rather it was a platform for Uruan Students to grow in brotherhood. He expressed satisfaction when he said that, no Uruan Student has been identified as a member of any clandestine group and urged that the tempo be kept.

Speaking further, he said 'University education is to develop a student's mind, immediately you leave school, you have to develop yourself else you will be left behind in today's world with your certificate.'

The Association's Legal Adviser Barr. Akpakan Okoho who's also a former Worldwide President and second in order of succession, couldn't hide his excitement seeing an interface between past Student's leaders and current student's leaders.

Barr. Okoho while commending Nsikak Edem, said such a meeting was the first of its kind and called on Uruan leaders who have stocks traceable to student's unionism to support the course of Uruan students.

'Being the Legal Adviser, I have had caused to fight and battle with almost all Past leaders because, Uruan students unionism gave me the platform I stood. So I don't joke with things concerning Uruan Students.'

Speaking too, the Supervisor of Education Uruan Local Government Council, Hon. Unwana Iwok said the Stakeholders' interface was necessary for the growth and progress of the Association.

According to him, such meetings would engineered growth and progress since students will laid their complaints and past leaders will advise them ( students) on how to tackle such problems.

Hon. Iwok expressed the readiness of Rt. Hon. Henry Udofia's administration to work with Uruan Students and the Worldwide body during their transition period, for a smooth transition.

Mr. Solomon Essien while speaking, also suggested that such meetings should be holding on regular basis. He said student's leaders are knowledgeable and should lead within the tenets of the constitution.

He frowned at the concept of tenure elongation, saying that such denies others opportunity to test leadership. ' I was the worldwide president, and I sat for just a year. I transit on time.'
He commended Nsikak Edem for calling such an elaborate meeting while asking others to contribute meaningfully.

The immediate past worldwide President Hon. Etebong Bassey, expressed satisfaction in the progress of the association, saying that Nsikak Edem has raised the bar in NAUS Leadership.

Harping on the wrong trend of cultism, he encouraged student's leaders not to part of it, saying it's destructive and doesn't augur well for the society.

Others who spoke were The Stakeholder's Chairman Engr. Emmanuel Ukpong and the NAUS Worldwide President Comrade Nsikak Edem, the Stakeholder's Chairman said the meeting was to create a robust synergy between past leaders and present student's leaders, and to rekindle the Aluta Spirit as the Worldwide Election draws near.

The Worldwide President said, the meeting was also to thank the pioneer leaders who had the vision for such a body and had worked tirelessly to sustain it.

He promised that the Association's flag will continued to fly higher, according to him, it won't die in his era.

Intimating further, he announced that September 15th has been proposed to be the official date for the general Congress of the Association.

The meeting had in attendance not less than 30 Persons, who were past leaders of no mean capacities, while the Supreme Council Chairman Comrade David Edet led a high powered delegations of current Student's leaders.
