Today I'd like to share my favorite FREE vst plugins! Some of them are effects, some of them are even instruments! Make sure to check them out, 'cuz they'll take your songs to the next 20%. 🧐

1. OTT -

Multiband upwards / downwards compressor especially used by electronic house music producers! Comes with input and output gain controls.

2. Camelcrusher - CamelAudio

Multi-effect plugin containing distortion, compression and filtering. Very CPU friendly plugin, the presets are very cool!

3. Wider -

Stereo widener. This plugin can give a mono signal the illusion of being a super wide sound. This plugin won't give you any phase issues at all, even when you go back in mono!

4. Imager -

Easily control the width of your sound or mix. You can see if you're having any phasing issues with ease. This plugin will give you the possibility to stereoize your sound for free!

5. Labs -

In need of free instruments? LABS by Spitfire audio has your back. A huge bank of free sounds is available for you including piano, guitar, strings and more!

6. Vital -

This visual synthesizer gives you huge possibilities. Vital looks and feels a lot like Serum, but it's totally free! You can create your own presets and sounds or download the soundpacks that other producers make!

Do you want to make your music at least 20% better instantly? Use these 5 tips to get it done in minutes! 🤩

First of all make sure to always work in key. At first I didn't know what a key was at all. I just tried to make the notes fit by ear and wel... that didn't always work out. I started using the FL scale highlighter and I started to learn the major and minor keys. Since then my productions went upwards.

Make sure you get rid of all the unnecessary low frequencies. They will only cause rumble. When you try to get rid of these frequencies, make sure you're using a high pass rather than a low shelf. A low shelf only lowers the volume of the frequencies and won't delete them.

Make sure you're using the right sounds. Using presets and samples isn't a crime. Trying to make a cake out of s**t is. With bad sounds, your production won't sound good at all. Try to pick the best sounds possible and you can alter them later on.

Make sure you have enough headroom in your mix. Work around your kick, that will sit arount -6db. Mix all the other elements around your kick and make sure the volume won't peak much higher than -6db for the best quality sounds.

And that’s a wrap! Honestly, where the heck did January go?

This month was packed with so much fun stuff, including going to Disneyland Paris, De Efteling an d even finishing three full tracks ready for Spotify.
