Photos from UNC Charlotte’s Annual Powwow this past Saturday, October 29th, put on by the Native American Student Association (NASA) and the Native American Caucus. This was the first powwow at Charlotte in over 15 years, a huge success organized by Page and Michelle (featured in the first slide)!

For our first issue in Fall of 2020, writer .m.varner profiled for the piece ‘Native Americans are Here and We Want to be Heard’ with photos by .hambrick. In the article, Page Freeman (now a senior and President of ) described her intention of one day having a full powwow on campus, and as of this weekend, that goal was officially made real.

“When speaking with an ecstatic smile, she explained not only her ambition to have powwows on campus, but also how positive she felt about having one: ‘Having a powwow is the best way to share my culture and try to explain what each dance represents and what the regalías/traditional wear represents. I feel like that would be amazing.’”
