Our first issue came out in December of

Midas Magazine was formed in the Spring of 2020 to give UNC Charlotte students a place to be unapologetically themselves and to showcase all the good our student body and surrounding city of Charlotte has to offer.

For the photo walk: we will meet at First Ward park in uptown Charlotte next to UNC Charlotte’s uptown building (right off the 9th Street Station Lightrail stop) at 2 PM and as a group walk around the streets of Uptown taking photos! This walk’s theme is composition, meaning we’ll be looking specifically at framing your shots, leading lines, city photography, and more, finding inspiration in the heart of Charlotte. It’ll be a fun way to meet other local creatives, work on your skills, and learn more about working with Midas! Select photos taken at the walk will be featured on our website.

Please RSVP at the link in our bio. Hosted by our creative director and other Midas staff. We are looking specifically for photographers but anyone interested in photography is welcome to come!

Photos from UNC Charlotte’s Annual Powwow this past Saturday, October 29th, put on by the Native American Student Association (NASA) and the Native American Caucus. This was the first powwow at Charlotte in over 15 years, a huge success organized by Page and Michelle (featured in the first slide)!

For our first issue in Fall of 2020, writer .m.varner profiled for the piece ‘Native Americans are Here and We Want to be Heard’ with photos by .hambrick. In the article, Page Freeman (now a senior and President of ) described her intention of one day having a full powwow on campus, and as of this weekend, that goal was officially made real.

“When speaking with an ecstatic smile, she explained not only her ambition to have powwows on campus, but also how positive she felt about having one: ‘Having a powwow is the best way to share my culture and try to explain what each dance represents and what the regalías/traditional wear represents. I feel like that would be amazing.’”
