Happy Halloween! We hiked over 7 miles for this impressive view. Collapsed cellar holes lined the miles of old roads turned trails. The area was bustling with farms in the early 1800’s. Long abandoned the area is now part of the national forest. Amazing views from the meadow and closing the hike with a visit to a grave site. A single stone where two baby girls who died of small pox in the 1850’s were buried. We hiked out in the dark with headlamps and flashlights but it was a great time. Video to come. This weeks bottle digging video had a couple of good finds. Here’s the bottle that was just laying out. Rain eroded the bank out and this was laying right out where Cory and I could see it. Love the color and what an amazing start to the day. Check us out on YouTube.

In the mood for a good adventure. Day dreaming about a spot I visited a few years ago. The US has hundreds of abandoned forts across the country. This one built along the Canadian border to deter an attack on the Union from British Canada. The fort never saw a day of battle.

This weeks video is our final explore in the Little River area. Over the last year we visited every house, farm & sawmill on the hill. Miles of old roads and stonewalls. It has been so much fun researching this place. Seeing all the photos. The state does a great job clearing and posting a lot of the sites. Some of them however I had to use map overlay and Lidar to locate. Pinning the location on gps and hiking to the spots. I have created a playlist of all of our visits here. If you want to go back and see the rest.

Bottle digging in Vermont usually ends in December. If you keep a couple holes open and dig every couple of weeks. You can keep it from freezing solid. This week I had to clear 20” of fresh snow first.

New video is up and we are just about to hit 1K subscribers!

This one is fun. Day started really slow. 4 hours of digging before I hit the killer pocket of turn of the century round bottom bottles. These bottles contained mineral water and I have seen ginger ale as well. They are designed to keep the cork wet so it wouldn’t shrink during shipping. The end users had little stands for them once you open one.

This weeks video we stumbled across a mega pocket of round bottom bottles. Soda or mineral water would have been in them originally. Tooled lip and blob top examples came out by the handful. It was a fun dig for sure. Video will be up Wednesday morning.

With the warm weather this January, I decided to try and open up another hole. Right away I can see round bottom water bottles. I have found pockets of them before, 2 or 3 at a time but this was a little crazy 🤣
