In this episode we decided rather than argue with one another as we do have some differing opinions on all that is going on right now we would each present our beliefs and points of view one at a time and give the other a 30 second rebuttal so to speak as the to challenge one another on anything we have brought up.

We dive into the murder of George Floyd by a white police officer in Minneapolis, the public outcry for justice and how the oppression of BIPOC in this country led to a public uproar and call for action.

We agree on some things but disagree on others, like so many families currently in the United States.

We wanted to give a realistic portrayal of how people can feel about the issues taking place and that have been taking place in this country for so long.

Having these conversations even if they are extremely uncomfortable is what this world needs more of right now. Please we urge you to have the uncomfortable conversations.

https://www.podbean.com/eu/pb-ysb89-de7638

This is a an emotionally charged episode for which we wanted to do our best to respect each other's stance and opinions on all that has been going on with the horrific murder of George Floyd, the non stop police brutality towards BIPOC and the subsequent p...

We had the privilege of speaking with County Supervisor Jim Desmond this week about his desire to help small businesses in San Diego get back to work.

Last week he created a website SanDiegoBacktoWork.com where business owners were encouraged to reach out with ideas and their thoughts on how San Diego businesses can quickly recover from this shut down and get employees back to work.

Restaurants, gyms, salons and other small businesses wrote in and today Jim is sharing what he believes is a solid plan to get San Diego to re open small businesses while still implementing social distancing protocols.

May 1st was the date that he had hoped small businesses would re open again but now that day is here and the shutdown has been extended indefinitely for San Diego. It was great speaking with somebody who is so in the know and taking great strides to keep small businesses afloat during this time of economic uncertainty.

If you live in San Diego and want some deeper insight into how government officials are voting and making decisions right now that will affect you, take a listen.

This week it's just Harriet and Randy discussing all things politics and the latest news surrounding the Coronavirus. We dive into President Trump and his ill informed briefing in which he suggested Americans should inject disinfectant to cure the Coronavirus and urge our listeners to only trust the experts here and refrain from drinking bleach.

You can officially now listen to us now on the I Heart Radio app which is so exciting, more ways to listen!

We also deep dive into the sexual misconduct allegations against Joe Biden and why if we are going to believe women, we need to believe all women regardless of our political beliefs. As a Democrat Harriet discusses her beliefs about why Fox News is giving unfair coverage to Joe Biden's accuser when they refused to cover any of the allegations against President Trump and Brett Kavanaugh, but are dragging Biden through the mud. We also talk about CNN and how they need to be giving just as much coverage to Biden's accuser as they did that of Trump and Kavanaugh's.

If we are going to Believe Women don't we need to believe them regardless of our own political beliefs?

We think so and can't wait for you to hear this episode and your thoughts!

We need to talk about why we should put country over party always. Not just during the Coronavirus pandemic, but why we as people need to take care of one another.

Whatever your ethnicity, socio economic background, education level, gender, or political party affiliation, we are Americans first and that tends to be forgotten.

Our newest episode is here to show you how to do just that as best friends Joe Leventhal (Republican) and Gil Cabrera (Democrat) praise the others party and share how we can come together as a country to get through this pandemic and come out more united than ever before.

https://www.podbean.com/eu/pb-wj73w-d75219

This episode is truly special and just what America needs right now. We spoke with our previous guest Joe Leventhal, a Republican attorney who ran for San Diego City Council and his good friend Gil Cabrera, a Democratic attorney who ran for San Diego City Attorney in 2016 and serves on the San Diego...

In this episode we speak with a frustrated patient who is exhibiting all of the signs of the Coronavirus but can't get tested in San Bernardino County, California. Many people are wondering why is it so hard for non celebrities or politicians to get tested and is that going to change in the next few weeks? We cover that in the beginning of this episode.

Next we speak with a Nurse working at Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego, CA about what life is like working with limited PPE equipment, having to bleach the goggles worn in the drive by screening tents, and why she believes it's just a matter of time until she gets Coronavirus.

We also talk about how people can best support healthcare workers out there on the frontlines right now, the supplies that are most in need, and what to do if you think you might have Coronavirus.

We close out the podcast talking with an amazing Physician Assistant Prescott Lederer who works down at the Mexico border treating patients seeking political asylum and we hear how COVID-19 is affecting her daily life.

Prescott also has spearheaded an incredible non profit called Stay Home San Diego. It's a grocery assistance program for the elderly and they have already delivered over 3800 groceries to those in need so if you are able to donate to this amazing organization you can do so here https://www.stayhomesd.com/ or if you or somebody you know over 65 is in need of grocery delivery you can also head to the site and fill out a form.

We hope you find this episode informative especially if you're living in California. Coronavirus is affecting all aspects of daily life for people but for those on the frontlines of this, those working in healthcare we see you and we are so grateful for all that you do.

Please donate any medical supplies you can, n95 masks, gowns, goggles, gloves, and whatever else hospitals might need right now.

This week it truly feels like the apocalypse.

Days ago people were laughing at those like myself for 'overreacting" to the spreading virus and President Trump even went as far as to call it a "Democratic Hoax"(which he later clarified he didn't mean ). His own son claimed this was another way for the left to try and get his father removed from office.

My how the tune has changed in 48 hours. President Trump gave a speech on Wednesday night about the Coronavirus and the steps the government is taking to try to prevent the spread.

He himself was exposed to the Coronavirus but is refusing testing.

Tom Hanks and his wife have been diagnosed along with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife, March Madness is cancelled along with Coachella and Stagecoach and people are hoarding food and toilet paper.

How will we get through this as a nation?

In this episode we dive into

🙌🏻How President Trump's speech was received by both the Republicans and the Democrats.

🙌🏻If it's racist to refer to this virus as the "Chinese Coronavirus".

🙌🏻How to be a good human being and keep your s**t together during this time of fear and uncertainty asa country.

🙌🏻The reliable sources of information you should be using to get up to date info about quarantines and the spread of the virus.

🙌🏻No co***ne won't cure Coronavirus stop doing that!

Please take a listen if you want a mix of serious information mixed in with lighthearted humor and a plea to the American people to come together during this time rather than let this fear tear us apart.

Check in on your elderly neighbors who can't make it to the store and ask them what they need.

Have 100 rolls of toilet paper in your garage, go give some to the single mom next door.

Did you stock up on hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes weeks ago and have a huge supply?

Give some to your immunocompromised friends and neighbors who don't have any.

We can get through this as a nation but we have to work together! Tag a friend who needs to hear this.

Get excited people because we are breaking down the two different San Diego Election Night Celebrations.

We were lucky enough to be invited to both the Republican event at the US Grant Hotel and the Democrat party at the Westin and both were very different experiences. Tune in to the episode to hear all about it!

We also talk about the Super Tuesday results, Elizabeth Warren appearing on SNL, why it was a great day for Joe Biden, and Bernie's Cable Access News show (the guy has looked 70 since he was 42, it's crazy).

We also touch on the Corona Virus epidemic and how cities are struggling to keep water and toilet paper in stock. How to protect yourself and boost your immunity naturally and also how to listen to the CDC recommendations to keep yourself safe.

It's a great episode filled with lots of insight and as always a lot of laughs, please subscribe and leave us a review!

We are so thrilled to share this episode with you all where we sit down and chat with Ruth Weiss, Vice President and Co-Founder of the Election Integrity Project California, Inc. (EIPCa).

Coming off of Super Tuesday it seems like a better time than ever to talk about Voter Fraud and Maintaining Election Integrity in California. While some people don't really think Voter Fraud is that much of an issue in the US, Ruth disagrees.

Ruth’s father was a U.S. History teacher, who taught using primary documents to instill a deep understanding of this country’s real roots and purpose. As a result, she grew up with a healthy respect for America and everything that has made her exceptional.

After retiring from 34 years of teaching high school English and Spanish, Ruth began to search for a new way of contributing to society and her fellow citizens.

The evidence that all is not well with California’s electoral process became clear to Ruth and many California citizens in the early years of the new century. She believes, as every American should, that voting in every election is the greatest privilege we have as American citizens, and the single most important act that we will ever do for ourselves and our posterity. But if our election process is subverted by error, apathy, carelessness and fraud, then we are robbed of the significance and purpose of the great privilege of voting, and that leads directly to the demise of our Republic.

Ruth came to understand that being involved with the Election Integrity Project was her next calling, and she began working with them as San Diego County Coordinator in February of 2011, just two months after the company’s founding.

In March of 2017, Ruth Weiss and Linda Paine began the effort to found a nonprofit organization to continue the work of the Election Integrity Project and on July 21, 2017, the Election Integrity Project California, Inc. (EIPCa) was officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) California public benefit nonprofit corporation.

In this episode we chat all things voter and election integrity and why being able to vote is a great privilege that should always be held to the highest standard.

If you're interested in learning more about the EIPC check out their website here https://www.eip-ca.com/

We are thrilled to introduce you today the incredible Roberta Winston who is also running for San Diego Superior Court Judge Seat 18 against CJ Mody whom we had on the podcast last week.

It was a pleasure to chat with her and learn more about her campaign as she is an incredibly accomplished and fascinating person with wonderful experience that is highly applicable to the position for which she is running.

In this episode we get into why Roberta was rated as being exceptionally qualified by the San Diego County Bar Association and why she has been training for this position since her freshman year at at Michigan State University when she was chosen to serve as a Justice on the “all university student judiciary”.

While attending law school at the University of San Diego she was elected to serve as a Justice on the USD Honor Court. Both of these positions required Roberta to hear cases regarding students and their ethical violations. She was highly praised for her ability to be both fair and impartial in these rulings.

She began her legal career in the chambers of State court district Court Judge in Las Vegas working as his judicial law clerk and assisting with both civil and criminal matters.

This is the experience that really sparked her desire to one day become a judge.

Since that position Roberta has been a practicing attorney in San Diego for 33 years. The first were spent working as a litigator in a variety or specialities including personal injury, products liability. Construction defect, insurance bad faith as well. She has also worked in other areas of the law including Healthcare and Bankruptcy.

She has served as a guest lecturer at the University of Nevada Las Vegas speaking to blossoming minds about Advanced Business Law. In addition she has also provided extensive training on Effective Negotiation Skills, Unfair Claim Practices Act and Insurance Fraud Investigation Training.

In this episode we dig deep into

🙌🏻Why being "smart" on crime is sometimes better than being "tough" on crime.

🙌🏻Why it's so important to be fair, balanced, and even tempered as a judge and the need to put your implicit bias in a box.

🙌🏻How San Diego has been a pioneer for Collaborative Courts and what exactly they do for people to prevent recidivism.

🙌🏻Why ego stroking should never be involved in the courtroom.

🙌🏻How you can get curious rather than angry when discussing politics with somebody whom you disagree with.

🙌🏻The importance of listening as a judge and why you have to be ok with making the unpopular decisions as long as it is the right one.

She loves her family which includes three beautiful kids, her two rescue pups and she is an active participant in her community. Roberta is also a passionate fitness instructor, specializing in Zumba & Sculpt, and sings professionally. Truly it was a joy to interview her and she would make an incredible Superior Court Judge.

This week we are thrilled to pull back the curtain on a political position that people don't know that much about......What exactly is the role of a Superior Court Judge and what makes somebody want to run for that office?

We were lucky enough to sit down and chat with the incredible CJ Mody who is running for San Diego Superior Court Judge Office 18 and talk all about what led him to throw his hat in the ring.

CJ Mody has been a deputy district attorney for 17 years and has spent the last 13 years with the Family Protection Division, prosecuting homicide, domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and child po*******hy cases. He has a history of being fair and even tempered making him a great attorney and judicial candidate.

He and his family immigrated to the United States from India when he was 12 and he has been a resident of San Diego ever since. CJ and Harriet both attended the Bishop's School in La Jolla, CA for middle and high school and both went on to attend the University of San Diego for undergrad which they touch on in the podcast. CJ speaks about how Bishop's helped to shape him into the person he is today!

In this episode we cover

⭐️ The pivotal moment that inspired him to make a career out of protecting and fighting for victims.

⭐️How to keep implicit bias out of this non partisan position and treat everybody equally whether they are Republican, Democrat or somewhere in between.

⭐️Having the courage to be disliked when making a ruling.

⭐️Why Courage and Morality are such huge parts of being a Superior Court Judge and how CJ exemplifies those traits in all aspects of his life.

⭐️How to bridge the political divide between right and left and meet each other in the middle.

⭐️Why it's so important to be polite and cordial with your opponent.

It's a great episode that we really enjoyed and CJ Mody would make a wonderful San Diego Superior Court Judge.

21/02/2020

Avoiding facts inconvenient to our worldview isn’t just some passive, unconscious habit we engage in.

We do it because we find these facts to be genuinely unpleasant.

They insult our groups and, by extension, us.

So we reject these facts, like our immune system would reject a pathogen.

And here’s a final sticking point that keeps people away from facts. It’s often not the facts themselves that people fear and avoid. It’s where they lead.

This is called “solution aversion,” and it helps explain why many conservatives are wary of the science of climate change. It’s because solutions to climate change involve increasing government oversight and regulations.

The fact that it’s so unpleasant to hear political viewpoints that oppose your own is why people tend to lash out so frequently, resort to name calling and using emotion rather than logic and facts to discuss politics.

Confirmation bias is soothing to your nervous system, hearing people that agree with you, telling you that your beliefs are right and you don’t need to change anything is a great feeling.

However that isn’t what will help you grow.

My dad and I read it all and expose ourselves to all types of media, from the most liberal types of media to the most alt right forms as well to see it all, how stories are being molded for an audience, how certain people are made to be the hero or the villain of a story, it’s fascinating.

And yes, it is extremely difficult to get outside of your comfy little confirmation bias bubble, but expanding how you look at the world and at politics can be a huge game changer and help you to understand why some people feel a certain way about a political decision or candidate and allow you to speak to them in a way where you can find common ground, speak american to american, rather than viewing each other as the enemy.

Do you consume and engage with media, newspapers, news channels that challenge your pre existing political beliefs?

We want to know 👇🏻

This is not how adults should be speaking with one another.

What has happened to civility in politics?

The name calling, the twitter attacks, it’s time to say enough and demand better in politics.

Is anybody else fed up of this type of discourse taking place everyday on social media?

Who is working for the good of the American people when all we are doing is attacking one another.

We’re not saying this would solve all of our political disagreements, but it wouldn’t hurt to try 🐶 😂

This quote is a great representation of why we started this podcast. We want to bridge the political divide between right and left.

You vote for a person not a party and most importantly you put the well-being of your country before your party.

It’s common to hear “vote red” or “vote blue” in this election season but really you need to be sitting down and figuring out which candidates best represent the best interests of the country.

President Truman said it best but it’s true that our own personal interests need to be put aside to do what is best for the country as a whole.

We need to be able to have the difficult conversations and talk to people who have political views that differ from our own.

That’s why we have both Republicans like June Cutter for State Assembly and Jim DeBello, Joe Leventhal and John Cox on the podcast, and why we also have Democratic Candidates on the podcast like Peter Mesich and Cory Briggs.

Being able to sit down and take off our political party armor and just talk as people as Americans who want what is best for the country it’s easy to see that we have much more that unites us than divides us.

Let us know if you agree and tag a friend who disagrees politically with you, but who you always manage to have a respectful and insightful conversation with 👇🏻👇🏻

Cory Briggs, aka the Taxpayer’s advocate has spent nearly two decades fighting special interests at City Hall.

From aspiring rockstar to running for San Diego City Attorney, we talk about his journey and how he got into politics.

We talk about

⭐️ Why the taxpayers in San Diego should have a voice and be able to vote on issues that concern them, like Qualcomm stadium.

⭐️ How the current city attorney’s office is pursuing an agenda contrary to the will of the voters.

⭐️ Short term vacation rentals like Air BnB and what Cory Briggs will do if elected.

⭐️ The issue of homelessness in San Diego and how we can work combat the different reasons for homelessness.

We are so excited to be bringing you real and unbiased information to help you get to know the candidates running for local San Diego political positions.

The first in our series of candidate interviews is Pete Mesich who is a running for the non partisan local position of San Diego City Attorney.

Pete Mesich is a licensed San Diego attorney who has been practicing law for 17 years and has worked in the City Attorney’s Office in both the civil division and in the criminal division.

The quote that really made us say “we need this man on the show asap” was when Pete said in an interview that “one of the that I’ve found is the working for the public good is a lot more rewarding than working for money”, a sentiment that is rare to hear these days!

He has a clear VIEW for San Diego City Attorney's office (Vision, Integrity, Experience/Education, Will) to restore the office’s reputation as one of the most effective, diverse, and respected public law firms in the United States.

In this interview we talk about

🙌🏻 the need for the city attorney to not have a self serving social media presence

🙌🏻 the importance of removing political bias from the city attorney's office

🙌🏻 why he doesn't just see this as a stepping stone to a larger political role

🙌🏻 why the City Attorney’s Office, lead by the City Attorney, needs to be a pillar of trust in city government, as opposed to an example of corrosive political skepticism

About Us

My father Randy Berholtz and I have been having these conversations for as long as I can possibly remember. My dad has been my hero my entire life and it definitely can be difficult when we disagree politically. He is the Secretary for the California Republican Party, a Yale educated lawyer and Rhodes Scholar. ⠀ I am a college educated, professional singer turned e-commerce entrepreneur having done over 1.8 million in sales by age 23. I have always loved politics and pride myself in staying well informed. ⠀ The last election cycle really changed things and my father and I both realize this, politics went from being something that was best to leave out of conversation with family members, to something that was needed to be talked about as the political divide in this country grew wider. ⠀ Family’s began fighting, not talking to one another and calling each other everything from “snowflake” to “Trumper” depending on their political views. ⠀ We wanted to show that it is possible to hear out somebody who has a different political view than your own in a respectful way. You can respectfully agree to disagree with one another and try to understand where the other person is coming from. By having honest and open conversations with people who have differing political ideologies than your own, that’s when true change and growth can take place. ⠀ We are committed to bringing you thoughtful, respectful and a insightful political commentary, with some current events and pop culture mixed in to break things up a bit and keep it fun. ⠀ If you could go and subscribe to our podcast on iTunes and leave a review that would be the best way to support us, and please listen and let us know your thoughts.
