An ardent fan of PM Narendra Modi offered a gold crown weighing 1.25 kg to Lord Hanuman at Sankat Mochan Temple in Varanasi to mark PM's 69th birthday. The fan identified as Arvind Singh made the offerings at the revered temple on Monday, a day before the PM's birthday. Singh said that he had taken a pledge to offer the gold crown to Lord Hanuman if the PM Modi, who represents Varanasi parliamentary constituency, returns to power at Centre for a consecutive second-term in Loksabha election.

Google is paying USD 150-200 million to settle allegations by privacy groups that YouTube violated a children’s privacy law while gathering data to better target its adverts, according to U.S. media reports on Friday.The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) agreed the amount of the settlement against YouTube parent Google, which if approved by the Justice Department, would be the largest settlement in a case involving children’s privacy, The New York Times reported.

Two great BJP leaders passes away in quick successions. RIP

Arun Jaitley, former finance and defence minister and a key figure in the first BJP government under Modi, has passed away at the age of 66, AIIMS announced today. He had been undergoing treatment in the hospital for weeks. The politician and lawyer had undergone a renal transplant last year and had been irregular in the government ever since. His illness was assumed to have been the reason for not contesting this year's Lok Sabha elections.

India have won gold at the Under 12 Asian Tennis Team championship held in Kazakhstan. India defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 in the summit clash to win the title. The team comprised Manas Dhamme, Arnav Paprakar and Tamil Nadu's Pranav Rethin. Manas and Rethin won their singles matches. Manas and Arnav, however, lost their doubles encounter. 12-year-old Manas remained unbeaten in the entire tournament.

An order passed by BCCI Ombudsman DK Jain has overturned cricketer S Sreesanth's life ban, reducing it to 7 years instead. He will be allowed to play after August next year, a decision which Jain termed as meeting the 'ends of justice'. Sreesanth was banned for life by the BCCI for alleged spot-fixing in an IPL match in 2013 along with two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates. The Supreme Court had set aside that order in March 15 this year.

Many students even today can’t buy books due to families’ financial condition. Chandigarh’s Sandeep Kumar, who runs an NGO named as “Open Eye Foundation”, started visiting government schools, colleges and other areas for identifying the students who can’t buy the books and helped them. He has collected about 10,000 books in the last two years. His NGO will soon adopt 200 poor children and will provide them with all the needed facilities in regard to their study. Kumar also wants other people to come forward for this social cause and help.

A costly U-turn?

A GoAir flight to Bangkok with 146 passengers on board had to return to Delhi soon after taking off as the crew forgot to take navigation chart with them. The airline had changed the aircraft at the last moment due to some technical issue and the replacement aircraft was not carrying required approach and navigation charts for Bangkok. Soon after taking off from Delhi, the crew realised that they weren’t carrying the required approach and navigation charts for Bangkok. Taking passengers’ safety into consideration, the pilot elected to return to Delhi to ensure required navigation charts were on board before departure.

More fame for India from junior champions 🏅🇮🇳

Deepak Punia engraved his name into the history of Indian sports on Wednesday by being the first Indian in 18 years to win a title at the Junior World Championships in Estonia. He won the final of the 86-kg junior freestyle category on Wednesday, beating Alik Shebzukhov of Russia. The final ended 2-2 on scores, but Deepak was awarded as he had registered the last point-scoring move. Punia had won the silver medal after losing in the final at this event in 2018. In 2016, he had won the gold medal at the Cadet World Championships.

A brave show by Abhinandan in a clash with Pakistan earns him a well deserved medal. 🏅

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was part of an aerial engagement with Pakistan a day after the Balakot air strike and was later caught by Pakistan after his Mig-21 crashed on their side, is set to get Vir Chakra on Independence Day, defence sources said on Wednesday. Vir Chakra is the country’s third-highest war time gallantry medal. From the Army, Sapper Prakash Jadhav will be posthumously awarded Kirti Chakra. In addition, IAF (Mirage fighter pilots who took part in the Balakot air strike) also got five Yudh Seva Medals and seven Vayu Sena Medal.

A week after scrapping of Section 370, new investments might pore in soon in J&K.

Jammu and Kashmir will hold its first summit for investors in October, said NK Choudhary, the state’s Principal Secretary for Commerce and Industry. The event, meant to attract businesses to invest in the state, will take place from October 12 to October 14 in Srinagar.The Investors Summit in J&K could be an opportunity to showcase the potential of the newly-formed union territory. The summit will help trade and industry organizations know about government policies, infrastructure, natural resources and raw material available in the state, Choudhary said.

Blown by the scrapping Article 370 and making Jammu and Kashmir a union territory governed directly by central dispensation, the central unit of BJP has asked all BJP led state governments and local bodies governed by it to pass a resolution thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Pakistan Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, on Thursday, declared and said, “In a decision by the Railways Ministry, Samjhauta Express services have been permanently stopped. It used to ply twice a week. The people who had already purchased their tickets can get their money reimbursed from Lahore DS office”.
