Good evening, friends. My name is Tim King, Jr. As you may know, I have long been an advocate and go-to for many local artists, helping them achieve things they wouldn’t have been able to do by themselves.
[No longer will I hide behind the veil of false modesty; I know, and the people who trust me with their art, know I’m good at what I do.]
I am honored to be your conduit, helping you all hear your music not just the way you intended, but maybe even a little more special. However, this past year I’ve been off the radar a little bit. I took a detour - a shoulder surgery, putting out some of my own material, and silently working with the über-talented, incomparable Jim Kaufman Productions.
My situation in life has morphed into a new chapter. I have a beautiful son whom I love more than anything, and for the past few years I have given him extraneous amounts of attention. This was a detriment to my productivity. He started daycare in September, and I have been slowly ramping up my skill sets and acquiring equipment.
*Here’s the thing.* I am no longer a “studio for hire,” nor am I a tracking engineer in the traditional sense. I do not have a facility that is suitable and capable for band production work. Places like Flat Black Studios, Magic Barn, Speed of Sound Recording, The Sound Box, Sonic Factory Studios, and others are amazing and well-equipped to handle that stuff.
So, what it exactly that I do? I am a songwriter, mixing engineer, and track builder. The latter is my bread and butter these days. If you don’t know what that is, it’s making everything “in the box,” crafting songs and sounds directly in the computer (as opposed to live instrumentation.) It was born from Nashville songwriting rooms, but has expanded as bigger studios have been shuttering their doors.
I would love to work with more of you, but those are the constraints that I am within at this given time. I do not own a commercial facility; I do not have any intention of making one again. I am building my own little dream escape room where I make crazy sounds, write, and mix/craft your material with that TK TOUCH©️
2022 was an incredibly strange, wonderful, horrifying, extremely busy, extremely anxiety-laden year. I was the busiest I’ve ever been in my entire career, had a song on national television, and built tracks for artists based out of LA and other remote regions. I am looking forward to 2023 as being a year of exponential growth on a mental, physical, and spiritual level - all connected to music and the joy it brings.
I’m sorry I fell off the radar for a little bit. I am sending my beacon out in hopes that someone might find my skills useful to help them create beautiful art that can be shared throughout the world. In sum, holla at cha boi.
I have a small favor to ask. Those of you that have worked with me – can you leave a little blurb about our working relationship, and how I changed/enhanced your output? Did I do what I set out to do? I’m going to build a website and I need some testimonials. I would be eternally grateful.
Let’s make more music. The highest caliber. No half-assed output. Big moves. Let’s all grow together and lift each other up in the process.
Love to you all. Have a happy new year!
