It only took three years but I am back in the recording studio!

It’s a bitter sweet release as three years is a long damn time, but a nice feeling to lock myself in a room with a few idiots and see what creativity ensues.

Thank you to for shoving a camera in our faces 😉❤️

It’s been a hot second since I’ve posted something, I’ve not really had much to post as of recently.

But here’s some photos from a few gigs I’ve had the pleasure to be apart of, I even hosted a few!

It was a great experience over summer to host my Wine Mum Records gigs. They weren’t perfect and upon reflection I have learnt a ton, but I want to thank everyone involved and everyone who came to support some real amazing bands.

Here’s to the new year where I’ll have some exciting music bits to share ;)

So you are all going to see me post a lot about gigs I’m putting on, mainly it’s because I’m excited to host some real exciting acts for you. Here’s the lineup for the 21st August, Green Door Store

Currls - A Brighton based band fronted by the powerful voice of Holly and accompanied by “I’ma gonna smash these drums” Hannah. A band full of vivid energy that carry a contagious excitement to them.

M**F - There is no other way to describe M**f without using the words bad ass. A band that stands firm against the status quo that’ll get you moving.

Tea With Florence: Admittedly I play bass for these guys, but I know how much effort they put into making sure every song is a bop 😉

So many thoughts about yesterday, turns out it’s pretty nerve racking putting on gigs, Waiting to see how many will turn up to support the bands you’ve chosen, waiting to see how people react to the sets in store. A lot of waiting really 😂
But the pay off has been so sweet, just seeing people having fun listening to local artists send it. And send it hard they did! Thank-you to LUAN MEI Room Service Tea With Florence for gracing us with they’re presence! 😊

Most importantly a massive thank you to everyone who came to support and I hope you enjoyed a lil dance. I’m sure there’s more to come, in fact I know there is! Watch this space 😉

A big thank you to Charlotte for the amazing photos 😊

(Too many photos to pick from so here’s just a few!)

How to ruin music for everyone. Step 1: Cover Wellerman. Step 2: Profit.

20/08/2020

We’ve received reports of venues and events asking musicians to work for free. This is not acceptable.

Many artists are looking for paid work after losing all their bookings due to Covid-19. Being expected to work for free only adds to the stress that they are already under.

No-one should feel guilty about turning down unpaid “opportunities". If you’ve been asked to work for no fee, let us know via http://www.theMU.org/contact

I took myself from surprise yesterday, I was just chatting to a friend about going to the cinema alone and a little thought popped up- I’m my favourite person to hang out with.
Now, for those who haven’t lived in my brain for the past 21 years, that is something I have never really felt.

Its nearing five months since I started shielding (week left baby!) and this whole experience has given me time to address the roots of my mental illnesses. I never liked myself or enjoyed who I am- for whatever reason I’ve alway tried to hide in plain sight, I would hold my shoulders to try to hide myself.

I moved away from home at 19 still with that mindset- I would drink to stop my thoughts from attacking a second longer. Acts that ultimately led to a lot of hideous moments on my part.
I started on medication to help me, with the mindset that it will solve all my problems. Mental illness doesn’t have a cure-all, theres no magic pill you can take to fix the rough edges in your head- and you can’t run from it either.

But yesterday I said I am my favourite person to hangout with, yesterday self love came naturally in my mind. It may seem like a tiny thing to some, but to me, this is everything.

People will tell you that self love is important, that everyone needs self care. People will tell you how to self care, or love yourself. But your self care isn’t theirs, its a journey where you will take wrong turns, you will have times you can’t face yourself, or can’t get out of bed. And all of that is okay. As once the journey begins you find parts of yourself along the way, the old and the new. Parts that become collective into a whole different person.

So hey, Im Jake Bonsall Morris 21. Bisexual. I enjoy reading books that are so absurdly human and imperfect to remind myself of what it is to be alive. I enjoy everything that can make a sound, and you know I will try to use anything to make sounds. I can make anything sound amazing, even if I am unfamiliar with what it is, I will learn how to make it sound wonderful. My head is full of colours as I can spend my lifetime obsessing with perspectives in thoughts, and the abstract nature of creative thinking.
Plus I will eat too much cheese.

Normalise self discovery and self assessment. Normalise taking little dates with yourself or just spending some time existing. You are not defined by your mistakes, you are the sum. 1+1=2, so 2=1+1, but 2 doesn’t equal 1.

Posting/sharing this under Wine Mum Records- as personality and personalisation is something I will always take to heart, the reason music exists- let alone as an industry. I can make you sound great while supporting you.
