Acidic meals and drinks soften the enamel of the teeth for a short period of time. If you clean your teeth immediately after, the process may remove some of the enamel. According to Michael Lynch, D.M.D., Ph.D., Global Director of Oral Care and Fellow Global Scientific Engagement for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., if you brush shortly after brushing, the motion may remove some of the enamel, making your teeth more prone to decay over time. As a result, it's ideal to brush after drinking citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, soda, and alcohol. People who waited 30 to 60 minutes to brush after drinking soda had less wear on their teeth than those who brushed sooner, according to one study.🖐⏰

"A tooth can be dissolved overnight with Coke."

The Truth: It won't necessarily improve your oral health if you know the reality about this myth, but let's break it anyhow! Leaving a tooth in a glass of Coca-Cola overnight, contrary to popular belief, will not cause it to disintegrate. Soft drinks, such as coke, however, contain a lot of sugar and acid, which can contribute to tooth erosion, cavities, and decay. The effects of these tooth-damaging beverages may not manifest immediately, but it is still better to avoid them or drink in moderation to lower your risk of developing oral health problems.🥤🦷

"Fruit juice is beneficial to your oral health."

The Truth:
Fruit juices must surely be excellent news for our teeth, given that we all know that fruit is good for us. Not always, of course. Many fruit juices contain a lot of sugar - both natural and added sugars - and can increase your risk of cavities and tooth damage as a result. When you're wanting juice, use a paper straw, much like the one above, to avoid harming your teeth. 🍋🍊🥤🦷
