A "Wicked" mistake

Packaging for dolls from the new ‘Wicked’ movie came under fire this weekend after the fine print was discovered to include the wrong URL for the movie’s website.

The dolls were created by Mattel in partnership with the new Universal Pictures movie, and were released in packaging that instead included the address for a pornographic website.

Mattel confirmed the misprint to FTS Sunday in an email.

"Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page," the statement read.

"We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel Customer Service for further information."

Popular turned newly minter Broadway diva Nicole Scherzinger, considered a top Tony contender for her starring role in Sunset Blvd., set off a social media backlash after responding favorably to a post-Trump-victory Instagram post by Russell Brand
The comedian, a very Christian convert and subject of a London police investigation on sexual assault allegations posted a photograph of himself wearing a MAGA-like red baseball cap inscribed with the words “Make Jesus First Again.”

“Where do I get this hat!!!?” Scherzinger replied on Brand’s IG page in a since-deleted comment.

Following online backlash, she shared an apology Friday on her Instagram Story but fans have not been placated.

Although the initial comment from Scherzinger – who plays Norma Desmond in the Jamie Lloyd-directed reimagining of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical – made no specific reference to Trump or MAGA, it has largely been interpreted as at least a tacit endorsement. She supported Barack Obama in 2008 and has been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, though she has spoken out against abortion.

Horror Icon Tony Todd dies aged 69

Tony Todd, the actor who played the titular killer in classic horror film Candyman, as well as appearing in Final Destination, The Rock and Platoon, has died aged 69.

Todd died on Wednesday at home in Los Angeles after a long illness, his wife, Fatima, confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter on Friday.

James Van Der Beek is opening up about his cancer diagnosis, days after revealing he was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer.

The Dawson's Creek star sat down for a new interview with People and discussed the journey he and his family have been on in the last year.

Although the cancer news came as a shock, Van Der Beek said it was also a catalyst and motivating in a sense.

"I really didn't feel like this was going to end me. I really felt like this is going to be the biggest life redirect," he said. "I'm going to make changes that I never would have made otherwise, that I'm going to look back on in a year, five years, 30 years from now and say, 'Thank God that happened.'"

Monkey Mayhem

At least 43 primates were on the loose Thursday in a South Carolina town where authorities "strongly advised" residents to keep their doors and windows locked after the animals escaped from a research laboratory.

"At this point, none have been captured," the Yemassee Police Department said in a statement posted on its page.

Traps were being set around the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in Yemassee, where the Rhesus Macaque monkeys escaped en masse from their enclosures around 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Yemassee Town Administrator Matthew Garnes said during a briefing Thursday with town officials that the monkeys escaped when a new employee at the Alpha Genesis center left the door to their enclosure open.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-South Carolina, said in a social media post Thursday afternoon that she is looking into the escaped monkeys.

"We’re diligently gathering all relevant information to keep our constituents informed regarding the recent escape of primates from Alpha Genesis Inc. in Beaufort County," Mace said. "Our office has been in direct communication with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and is working closely with their team to monitor and assess the situation."

Three people have been charged over the death of One Direction singer Liam Payne, according to the Argentina Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities said in a statement Payne had traces of alcohol, co***ne and a prescription antidepressant in his system when he died.

The prosecutors added the people charged were someone who was close to the singer, a hotel employee and a suspected drug dealer.

They were charged with supplying him with drugs and one of them was also charged with abandoning a person in a vulnerable state.

"The results of the toxicological studies which have been communicated to his family revealed that, in the moments prior to his death and over a period covering at least his last 72 hours, Payne had traces of polydrug use of alcohol, co***ne and a prescription antidepressant in his body," the prosecutors said.

An autopsy found he died after sustaining "multiple traumas" and "internal and external hemorrhaging" from the fall.

The prosecution said that the investigation had revealed "illegal conduct".

The prosecution ruled out self-harm and the "physical intervention of third parties" as the cause of Payne's death and said the injuries he sustained were compatible with those caused by a fall from a height.

"Payne was either not fully conscious or was in a state of markedly diminished or absent consciousness at the time of the fall," the report added.

Payne's body was handed over to his father, Geoff, over the weekend and flown back to his native England.

Former NFL star Jason Kelce has apologised for smashing the phone of a person who directed an alleged homophobic slur at his brother, Kansas City player Travis Kelce.

Kelce apologised for his behaviour on ESPN's coverage before the Chiefs' Monday night (local time) NFL game against Tampa Bay in Kansas City.

"I'm not happy with anything that took place. I'm not proud of it," he said.

"In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don't think that's a productive thing.

"I really don't. I don't think it leads to discourse and it's the right way to go about things.

"At that moment I fell down to a level I shouldn't have. The bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule [do unto others] — that's what I've always been taught.

"I try to treat people with common decency and respect and I'm going to keep doing that moving forward, even though I fell short this week."

Kelce smashed a member of the public's phone after hearing homophobic slur about brother Travis and Taylor Swift.

Peanut the Squirrel, a beloved social media star, has sadly been euthanized after being seized by the authorities in New York, leaving its family and fans devastated.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Chemung County Department of Health confirmed in a joint statement that both a squirrel and a raccoon, seized from a residence on Wednesday, were euthanized for rabies testing.

The decision followed an incident in which a person involved in the seizure was bitten by a squirrel.

On Wednesday, DEC officers arrived at Longo’s residence and removed Peanut under state regulations concerning rabies risks.

Peanut was a social media sensation with almost 600 K followers on Instagram. Owned and cared for by Mark Longo, Peanut’s life was documented through 1,400 Instagram posts.

Peanut had become a central figure in P’Nuts Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary, the non-profit organisation he founded to rescue neglected animals. The sanctuary currently shelters over 300 animals, with Peanut serving as its beloved symbol.

During his performance at "For Friends and Family" concert in Colorado Shawn (26) sang his new song, The Mountain, which features the lyrics, “Some days I have a change of heart / You can say what you need to say. You can say I’m too young / You can say I’m too old / You can say I like girls or boys / Whatever fits your mould."

The singer then got candid with his audience.

"Since I was really young there's been this thing about my sexuality and people have been talking about it for so long," he said.

"It's kind of silly because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing and it’s so hard to just put into boxes,” he continued.

“I was figuring out in myself something that I had yet to discover and still have yet to discover," he said. “I don't really know sometimes and I know other times. And it feels scary because we live in a society that has a lot to say about that.

"I’m trying to be really brave and just allow myself to be a human and feel things. And that’s all I really want to say about that for now."

Mendes' new album is released November 15th.
