Are you laughing enough? I'd like for anyone who reads this to find something to laugh about today. :p
Some advice is harder said than done. Many of you know this but wanted to make a quick reminder about holiday stress, cortisol, and the relationship with weight gain.
Stress tells your body that bad things are happening and stress, whether or not that it is true, could potentially mean a food shortage. So what does the body do? It says, 'heck, things are getting tough, I should hang on to some of this energy and store it as fat for later'. The body doesn't know what you know. It uses a completely different language and it depends on cues from chemicals your brain releases in different situations. So, as much as we worry about what kind of things go to our stomachs, it's good to filter what goes through our minds, too.
Whether how much control we have of things around us and how well tempered we are or would like to believe we are it's good to keep reminding yourself that you must try to keep stress in check. It's a factor that can be overlooked.
We get stressed about not losing weight, looking good in our favorite jeans, about work, the commute to work, bills, family problems, the news, and dozens of other factors that play in. No matter what is going on, try to find the positive. No matter how crazy it gets, we're all hanging on to a rock in space revolving around a ball of hot fire-gas
I've dealt with car accidents, injuries, having to give up great jobs because of health issues, needing to start over several times with relationships, and that idea that I have control over everything had long been challenged many times. So, I've decided years ago that I'm not going to fuss about what I can't change anymore whether if it's about the world around me, the past, or things that I cannot do, but rather look at all I can do and see the small victories in it.
Remember to laugh! Remember that our time here is limited and that perspective is everything. If you can do something perfect, don't get hung up on it and as long as you knew you tried your best then move on to the next goal.
Every person who joins this group and gets ideas on how to stay on their diet to me is a small victory for us, for the keto community, and the world as a whole. A small one in some senses and a huge victory in a broader scope when I hear about how it's made a difference. Medical costs are only going to get higher and the more we do to become less dependent on medications, the better off we all will be.
