IWO wants to share this experience with the world through innovative stories, experiences, and interviews. This issue was a long time in coming, and we want to thank all of the authors who contributed and waited patiently for its release. With articles from an interview with Paul Timmons (the former Red Cross Disability Integration Coordinator) to articles about rules for interacting people with disabilities, we are so incredibly grateful to our authors who contributed and waited so patiently for this issue's release!

As we close out Black History Month, we want to continue honor black disabled activists like Joyce Ardell Jackson, who participated in the 1997 sit-it at the Health, Education and Welfare building to advocate for passage of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which made it illegal for federally funded agencies to discriminate against people with disabilities.

With issue 5 of IWO being released during Black History Month, we're celebrating black disabled activists, like Lois Curtis, who made it possible for thousands of people with disabilities to move from institutions into community-based settings in her role as plaintiff in the Supreme Court Olmstead vs. LLC, a ruling which gave people with disabilities the right, if they so chose, to live in the least restrictive environment.
