If you listen to today’s podcast (The Spacious Place with Kari Levang:), this is the book you’ll hear me reference.

This week’s episode is titled, “the bird, the feeder, and the space in between” and before you think I’ve gone off the deep end in bird watching, it actually has some value for your soul, not just observing birds 😂 The book is all about learning to stop look and listen to life and today I’ll share a story where God interrupted my day. And then you’ll hear some of the ugly thoughts that roll around in my heart at times. (Not proud of them for sure!)

***Be sure to listen all the way to the end for an announcement! And leave me a 👍🏻 in the comments below when you know what it is.

How are you?… for real!

Been thinking about that question a lot lately and how we ask it all the time…it’s sort of a time and space filler, like the appropriate thing to ask.

But what if we asked it and then actually listened to one another? What if when we were being asked, we knew the other person genuinely wanted to hear our answer? I just wonder if we would feel less isolated—seen. And then if it might help us to know we’re not alone and maybe impart some courage to each other.

So I’m genuinely asking you now…”How are you?”

(I also know that seems like a strange thing to ask over a screen, but I really am interested. If you wanna leave your answer in the comments or send me a DM…I’d love to hear!)

What does it look like when our hearts are too overwhelmed with 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 to enter into 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞?⁣

In this weeks episode I sit down with my own sweet daughter, Paige, as she shares her most sacred space around the best day of her life that turned out to be one of her hardest days all at the same time. Paige courageously lets you in on what led her to this place of deep grief and how she's navigated through it with grace. Full of authenticity and hope, she invites you into her story in a way she hasn’t yet before. ⁣

If you haven’t already listened to this weeks podcast, I hope that you take the chance to listen today! ♥️ If you HAVE already listened, what did you resonate with or like the best?

I spent most of my years raising my kiddos asking Jesus to bring just the right people into my babes lives...this weekend I got to take my very own daughter and my 3 daughters-by-marriage/‘by Gods design’, on an overnighter. IT WAS AMAZING!!! We had such a wonderful time laughing, eating and sharing real life with one another. I’m in awe of the goodness of our God! They are wonderful and I am so so blessed to be in their lives. Even though the world feels crazy, my own family feels like home. My back is sore from the pullout I slept on last night, but my heart is overflowing with gratitude💛

you picked good ones!!!😍

If you're curious, there is always something new to be discovered in the backdrop of your daily life.” ― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart⁣

With this being the beginning of November, I found it fitting for us to talk around the idea of GRATITUDE ✨ ⁣

There’s a brand new episode on the podcast today and in this episode we’ll talk about how practicing the rhythm of wonder in our daily lives in things like, the shape of clouds and the color of changing leaves, can lead us to the place of gratitude. And how staying in step with curiosity in the simple things in life, positions us for more and expands our hearts to lean towards “thank you”.⁣

I hope you take a moment to listen and I’d love to hear what stood out for you🤍⁣

Also, my sweet and talented friend took some new pictures for The Spacious Place and I’m so grateful! 📸:

Happy Tuesday! I know today is filled with all things election, but I also wanted to give a heads up that we have a brand new episode on the podcast this morning that I’m super excited about💘⁣

In this episode you’ll get a peek into a conversation that I had with another one of my daughter-in-laws. Hannah is our youngest son, Tate’s wife and she’s pretty special. You’ll get to hear about how our relationship as grown, what their first year of marriage was like, and so much more! ⁣

Fun fact, Hannah and her mom designed the thumbnail image for The Spacious Place and she's also working on some other fun graphics for me too!! ⁣

I hope you give it a listen and get another fun peek into our family ✨

Two kids stepped into a photo booth to capture our faces while on a date (to the grocery store 🤣 I was 18 years old in this pic... I didn’t know Jesus yet and I surely didn’t understand who I was. I was full of fear and used humor as well as all kinds of other coping mechanisms to mask it—to survive the sadness and pain inside me. But before I knew Jesus, He knew me. He knew this man would be my first safe harbor. A place where I could be seen, and heard and known. A man who would protect and provide and love well. I just knew he was cute and I was falling for him—(mullet and all:) Jesus had plans for both of us that would include healing and wholeness and 4 amazing kids that would start their own little families. 💛 What a joy and wonder to look back at where it all began.

Where you are today is not your forever home. There’s always more. More light. More life. More hope. More joy. More peace. ... exceedingly and abundantly more!

New episode is LIVE on the podcast today! Have you listened yet? 🙋🏼‍♀️🎙⁣

This episode is a conversation with my lovely daughter in law Samantha! We spend time chatting about her relationship with our oldest son David, as well as what it’s like to parent their two kiddos while going to school full time in the middle of a major life change. She also shares some things that she learned from her own childhood that she wants to implement into her own parenting, and so much more! ⁣

This conversation will give you a peek into our dear Samantha’s heart and I’m so excited for you to learn about another special person in my life💛

These people make my heart so full. Every single one of them! They are all so different and unique to their divine design and I’m in love with each one of them. When I was raising my babies who grew into teens who then decided to become adults😂, I had no idea how I could possibly love the ones they would choose to spend the rest of their lives with. BUT I DO! So so much. I don’t know why I’m surprised tho or why I ever wonder about my 💛’s ability to expand and grow. That’s what God is like—He’s in the business of making his own, like Himself. The image of God in me is ever increasing my capacity for more. As I lean in and ask for more, it’s like my Father says, “I’ve just been waiting for you to ask me that!” It’s his joy and pleasure to enlarge our hearts and make them pure like His. I never want to settle for where I am today, believing this is it. There’s more of Him, more for me, and even more for me to give away! As we live out of being loved by God, that love multiplies and before you know it you’re swimming in delight.

This is Katy—she’s one of my ‘fun’ buddies! We’ve had more fun times together than I can count, but she’s also one of my friends that I can go to the deep end of life with. ⁣

I am so excited to share that she sits with me in this weeks new episode in our series on DELIGHT💫⁣

Katy is also one of my brave friends who has embarked on a creative venture, using her gifts and talents on her YouTube channel (), to share with the world her delightful concoctions of all manner of yummy food! We’ll talk all about what ‘delight’ has looked like for her, not only in creating delightful food, but experiencing it around her own story with Jesus and others.⁣

It’s a good thing we have the internet to remind us of holidays like national son day!

I was talking with a friend recently and said how grateful I am for God’s grace, especially in parenting. I was basically a kid doing my best, with Jesus and not much training, to raise my kiddos who are now wonderful grown ups. I love them dearly and can’t believe how much they love us back and even like us! It’s a joy and a privilege to be their momma forever. These guys are not only handsome but they are stellar humans. I love when I get to be with them! Also, don’t they clean up nicely??😍

God only gave me one daughter to start with—she’s lovely, smart, strong and spicy—and I love the heck outta her! She’s kept me on my toes, always been honest with me and given me the joy and privilege of doing life up close with her! I love my girl and she’ll always be my
Paige-a-Rella no matter how old she is!😍

But, He also gave me three boys, who have given me three more wonderful daughters! I’m not even kidding when I say I hit THE JACKPOT on daughters in love!!! They are treasures to me and are so so kind and loving to their MIL💛
AND...I have two of the sweetest little grand daughters who I adore! I look so so forward to being a part of watching them grow into young women. 💗
Life with the girls of this family is pretty darn great and we’ve got lots of fun memories ahead of us together...what a fun way to celebrate and acknowledge the chicks of the fam!!😍

Few delights can equal the mere presence of one whom we trust utterly.” ― George MacDonald⁣

Life is hard, right—especially in 2020. We’ve gone from global pandemic to murder hornets, to massively extreme weather patterns. And that’s just naming a few of the hard things that this year has held for us. And yet, somehow God still offers us delight. The ability to lean in and receive His delight over us and give it away to others. Today we will spend some time talking all things delight. Tune in and check it out and then be sure to let me know what you think as well as all the ways you’re finding delight in the midst of hard things.⁣

I’m so excited to dive into DELIGHT and hear how you are finding delight in your own lives 💛

Hey! Happy Tuesday, you guys! You know what this means 😉 NEW episode alert! ⁣

In the newest episode I’ll talk with the youngest of the Levang crew, Tate. You’ll get to hear a little bit about what it was like growing up as the youngest of 4 kids. The things he loved about it and the things that were hard because of it. He also shares a little bit about what being married to Hannah has taught him, in this first year, as well as some of the passions he’s pursuing. I think you’re gonna enjoy a peek into our relationship as well!⁣

You can also check out some of his amazing skills on his website .com. You won’t regret it, he’s so talented!

Pic 1- this sweet boy and I built his LEGO all morning together. He leaned over multiple times and said, ‘Ama, I just love spending time with you.’
Pic 2- this cutie girl did her ballet performance on stage for just her parents (covid👎🏼)—but then they came here and we had our own performance on the deck, with flowers, applause and cheering her on!
Pic 3-spent the afternoon with this cute babe by the pool😜...she’s also having her first overnighter with us while mom and dad celebrate their anniversary away.

In this final episode of the series on connection and community I have a conversation with my friend . And although she and her family live in paradise in Maui, Hawaii☀️they have had to work, just like the rest of us mainlanders, for genuine connection. She shares some of the struggles around establishing community, as well as why its been worth the risk. ⁣

I’m SO excited for you to hear our conversation! It’s such a good one❤️ ⁣

Also, just a heads up, the sound quality is not good on this one, but content is so good, its worth fighting through it.👏🏼

BLOOM
What would it look like for you to let yourself go? To lean into all God designed for you to be and experience. To let yourself relax into what it means to be seen and known and loved—even when, or especially when that feels scary.

That’s faith.

Resting in the promises of God, in all your uncertainty, fears, desires and dreams. Allowing the one who knit you together to continue to fashion you into his divine image.

I’m grateful that He’s not finished with me yet—and I’m realizing afresh that his shaping, even when it’s painful, means He’s close and I matter to Him.

And that’s enough.

“I know the psalm, but she knows The Shepherd.”🍃⁣

Join me today as we spend some time together in the often quoted Psalm 23 as it relates to connection with Jesus. We’re going to talk about what it means to be sheep, who belong to the Good Shepherd. I’ll also share some of the ways that connection got disrupted for me in the past, with Mike, and how I have been able to pay attention to some of the reasons for that and do the mending, soul work with Jesus and others. ⁣

Give it a listen and I hope that you can take something away for yourself 🤍 If you haven't already, would you be willing to rate the podcast & subscribe!! We have exciting things coming and I don’t want you to miss out and it’d help me big time!🥳

This precious girl captured my heart one year ago today! She’s curious and cautious, absolutely adorable and apprehensive, she’s spunky, sassy and 100% delighted in!!

It’s been an absolute joy to spend this year up close with her and her momma (and daddy:). They’ve given me the precious gift of invitation from the very beginning and I couldn’t be more grateful. My life is richer for having walked this road with you Winslow James—my faith is stronger, my joy is bigger and my heart is changed forever!
Here’s to many more—I love you so much precious girl 🧡

You will never look into the eyes of someone God does not love…always be kind. -Unknown⁣

New episode alert!!🎉⁣

You’ve heard it said that, ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going’. Well, in this episode I’d like to propose a new way of thinking and relating to one another. What if we chose to stay present and engaged with one another, rather than opt out and disconnect.⁣

Life is messy. Relationships are hard, even when we agree on most things. But what about when we disagree? How do we navigate loving one another well when our values don’t align? Or we disagree on issues that feel important. I sure don’t have all the answers but I’ll share what it has looked like in my own life and give some insight around how Jesus did it that I believe we can learn and grow from together.⁣

I’d love to hear your thoughts after you give it a listen!!💛What points did you take away?

Selling my car—-such a mix of feelings. I’ve loved this little car so much! It was the car I got when I became an empty-nester...I’ve had it for 6 years but it’s time now to make room for car seats for grand-babes, so back to an SUV I go! Will miss this cute little thing... hoping it goes to someone who loves it as much as I have!

It was a fun-filled day of celebration! End of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. Courtney is going from singleness to married life with my son! After just a few short months of knowing her, I felt pretty confident that she would be a great pick for Andrew and vice versa. A beautiful blend of wonderful people. Turns out they thought so too—so they’re gonna close their chapter of singleness and say yes to a lifetime together early next month. Who said moms don’t know anything about choosing their kids spouses 😜?

(Pic 2)Avery is our wonderful nephew who we’ve had the privilege of doing life up close with. This man-child is a gem! He’s done with high school and heading out in just a few short days to the Air Force. We will miss the heck outta him and know at the same time that God has great things in store for him!

Isn’t that just how life works?? Closing chapters and opening new ones all of the time! New adventures with old ones in the rearview mirror—reminding us where we’ve been...never forgetting, but with an eager anticipation for the next season.

I sure love both of these people and am grateful to Jesus for all He’s done and everything He’s planning for the future.💛
