Piedmont Fox Hounds mourn the passing of landowner, equestrian, conservationist and ever gracious hostess, Rose Marie Bogley.

Hunt meets and breakfasts hosted by Mrs. Bogley at her beloved Peace and Plenty Farm at Bollingbrook were always a highlight of the season. The warmth of her hospitality exceeded only by her grace, sense of style and love for all animals.

A native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Rose Marie Parker moved to Washington, D.C., following her graduation from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was employed as a secretary in and around Capitol Hill. It was there that she met her future husband, businessman Samuel E. Bogley who was also Master at Potomac Hunt (MD). Naturally athletic, the young Mrs. Bogley quickly took to riding and embraced horse sports. She owned and bred race horses, rode to hounds, and was an accomplished side-saddle rider, whose style and grace won trophies at shows including Washington International Horse Show, the National Horse Show and the Upperville C**t & Horse Show.

Bollingbrook in Upperville had been uninhabited for more than fifteen years prior being purchased by the then widowed Mrs. Bogley in 1985. Over the course of the next 20 years, she lovingly and meticulously restored the stately home and seventeen outbuildings on the more than 400-acre property, which was then known as Peace and Plenty Farm at Bollingbrook. Mrs. Bogley loved to entertain at her home, hunt breakfasts for Piedmont Fox Hounds, galas for Middleburg Humane Society, and historic Virginia Garden Week frequented her calendar. A staunch conservationist, Mrs. Bogley placed the farm into a conservation easement with the Land Trust of Virginia, protecting it in perpetuity.

The Masters, staff and membership of Piedmont Fox Hounds offer our deepest condolences to Mrs. Bogley’s family.

Services will be private.

With great sadness we announce the passing of longtime steward and friend, Wayne Eubank. Wayne was a native Virginian and accomplished equestrian, who later became one of the most sought-after licensed stewards in the region, including at Upperville, for more than a decade. UCHS Executive Director Emily Day recalls "Wayne was diplomatic and professional. My first show as Director he helped me navigate a very emotionally charged situation. I learned so much from his calm demeanor while he maintained his absolute command of the rules. The way he handled it was impressive."
Wayne was member of the Virginia Horse Shows Association Hall of Fame and a 2023 inductee of the UCHS Wall of Honor. Horse show manager, Tommy Lee Jones, remembers him as polite to everyone and easy to get along with, but “knew his rules real well. He was what you’d call a true Virginia gentleman.”
