With it being stupid hot season, I figured now was a good time to re-share last years Soundsystem Fiesta Mix

A caliente mix of afro house, latin house, bassline, drum and bass, garage, and jungle music.

Perfect for the gym, 10k training, the cook out, dossing about by the pool or dancing by yourself at home.

The sun has hot his hat on for the Soundsystem Fiesta 2023. A sizzling mix of afro house, latin house, bassline, drum and bass, garage, and jungle.

Whilst at Puebla, during some of my downtime (Chemo and Neutropinia) I started tinkering around with some music ideas again.

Sampling, layering, chopping up loops, playing with space and texture etc and I ended up creating a 5 track EP that has become a pretty fitting representation of my time there.

An odd mix of low-res jungle, downtempo, ambient, IDM and experimental music that samples everything from Alan Watts and Japansese Commercials for Playstation 1, to field recordings of rain on the rooftop garden at Clinica Ruiz (Track 4 - '7200')

Like most stuff I've tinkered about with in the past, it's not certainly not gonna be everyone's cup of coffee, but nonetheless, after putting it together I thought I'd share for those curious.

Something that some of you know, but most don’t, is that last year I had a surprising stay in the hospital.

I was there for just under a week and I left with a diagnosis of M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis)

And in 4 weeks (to the day) I’ll be embarking on a journey that I wholeheartedly believe will give me a better quality of life.

In 4 weeks I’m heading to Puebla, Mexico to undergo HSCT (Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation).

It’s a fairly intense 4 week procedure that includes harvesting healthy cells, chemotherapy, a hard reset of my immune system, and then the reinsertion of healthy cells. And then, obviously, a prolonged period of recovery.

I’m talking about this now…for a few reasons really.

Firstly, this is a huge thing for me. Like…massive. It’s going to be difficult and unpleasant and although, in recent times, I’ve become quiet and insular online I realise there can be power and support and comfort in sharing.

Throughout the procedure and the recovery period I’ll be sharing updates. In these updates my appearance (and no doubt my demeanour) will change but I think it will be helpful (for me and hopefully others) to let people in to this season of my life.

Secondly, for those who know/see me in the physical, but don’t know about my situation…this is it. And this is why you’ll see less of me for a considerable amount of time come the end of May.

I understand for a lot of you this is a bolt of the blue, but I didn’t really want to get into it until I was closer to my departure.

I’ve essentially tried to carry on as normal but now I’m on the fringe of a new normal I figured it’s time to open the door.

If you want to know more, feel free to reach out and get in touch and we discuss it but yeah..that’s pretty much it.

I’ve no idea how to end this 😂 it was hard enough to articulate everything above, so I’ll just say I hope you have a great week and I’ll keep you posted. ❤️

ALBUMS OF 2024

No.6 - Three by Four Tet

‘Three’ is an album that sees Kieran Hebden play to the many strengths he’s developed over 25 years of making thoughtful, soulful, electronic music under the moniker Four Tet.

Its use of space, layering, tone, and pace is fantastic. As is the textural element.
The album is often rooted with crisp, crunchy beats or percussion that adds a sense of heft without ever becoming sluggish.

In concurrence with, and independent of this, are pockets of glacial ambience, and ethereal sounding patterns formed from synths, keys, picked strings or guitar (as is the case with the lush ‘Skater’)

Whether working together as partners of contrast (best exemplified on ‘Daydream Repeater’) or separate ideologies, it all fits wonderfully into the kaleidoscopic collage of ‘Three’.

This isn’t new for Four Tet, by any means, but he’s really found himself in a creative pocket here and is firing on all cylinders.

From stripped down, low key bangers to moments of zen, the tonal shifts are fluid and the individual parts of this record click into place to make an always engaging, often gorgeous sounding body of work.

Plus there’s a duality of sorts to ‘Three’ you can easily sink into the album and lose yourself or you can listen with headphones and pick out the numerous examples of attention to detail.

Fantastic stuff. An early AOTY contender for sure.

ALBUMS OF 2024

No.5 - Tangk by Idles

Love is the fing isn’t just a fheme here, it’s also the nucleus to the Idles fifth full length release.

Love for the self and fellow human radiates through the familiar angles and new ideas on display and although it doesn’t reach the heights of their breakout LP, ‘Tangk’ is the bands most consistent and solid effort since ‘Joy as an Act of Resistance.’

Frontman Joe Talbot continues to stretch and develop his vocal ability and the record as a whole is further proof that the band are not content with being confined to the labels of punk or post-punk.

Digital textures and tinkering, the piano powered opener ‘IDEA 01’, and the sputtering drum machines of ‘POP POP POP’, are all great examples of their experimentation landing and moulding a more coherent product along with layers to their sonic identity.

Plus there’s some top tunes, there’s also a couple of rough edges and misses, but top tunes live on this fing nonetheless.

A good outing and definite step in the right direction.

7/7.5

IF YOU’VE GIVEN ‘TANGK’ A SPIN, DID YOU LIKE IT?

DIMED OUT HALLOWEEN SPECIAL 🎃

Alraaaate gang, it's been a minute I know. But I am and have been, working on some things.

Including this.

Yesterday (just in time for Record Store Day), I released a new audio adventure.

An off-shoot from the DIMED OUT podcast, Musical Mystery Tour is a deep dive into life, memories, and music.

Each episode a special guest picks 8 songs from a master list of prompts and curates a Musical Mystery Tour that explores genres, continents, decades, anecdotes, emotions, personal resonance and so much more.

My first guest is my good friend and music aficionado Phil, who takes me on a voyage that explores amongst many things... Bjork's lyricism, Our Price, sausage rolls, the indie rock boom of the early 00's, artists evolving their sound, the UK Christmas single landscape, and the classic fuzz of The Smashing Pumpkins.

A full version with music included is available via Spotify.

A standard version without music is available on Apple Podcasts (and other platforms).

Alright gang, in our season finale we’re asking “can a man live on completion prizes alone?”

The year is 1998. The place is Japan.

An aspiring comedian by the name of Nasubi auditions to be on Denpa Shonen’s new TV show with the hopes of breaking into showbiz.

Selected as the sole contestant, Nasubi is then taken to a small apartment, stripped naked and told that everything he needs to survive from this point on, must be won via magazine and radio contests.

Oh, and if that wasn’t traumatic enough, millions of people at home will be watching on a weekly basis.

Nasubi’s Prize Life is a story that is so ridiculous it shouldn’t be true. But it is.

It’s a story that is cruel, compelling, grotesque, puzzling, and psychologically fascinating.
A pretty fitting way to finish our fourth season then.

If you've enjoyed this season and you want to help support the show, the best way to do so is to simply subscribe via whatever podcast platform you prefer.

Ratings and reviews always help too and if you wan't to get in touch via social media, follow what's happening with future episodes, check out our merchandise including the album of music that was spawned from the podcast and well...whatever else, you can find links to all things 'Dimed Out' via https://malfoster.carrd.co/

DIMED OUT
Season 4, Episode 15 - Tim Doyle Pt.2

Alright gang, this week we’re concluding our two part conversation with Tim Doyle.

Not only are we getting a resolution to Tim’s encounter with the Angel of Death but Tim also digs into a variety of topics including the God frequency.

Shifting from a 3rd dimensional consciousness to a 5th level consciousness.

Egyptian gods, arcturians and a prayer which allegedly removes fears and other emotional parasites from your being.

If any of this has tickled your brain and has left you wanting to dive deeper into this strange, yet undoubtedly curious rabbit hole, then you can learn more about Tim and the golden ones @

Alright gang, sooooo for this week's episode, here is a little clip.

Firstly the audio & video on my end is s**t because all I had available was the internal mic and web cam for my laptop :(

However, in this clip...ordained metaphysical minister, reiki master, and conduit for the Golden Ones, Tim Doyle talks to me about his encounter with the Angel of Death.

In a very unique conversation that took place at my mums dining room table, I spoke to Tim about a number of things.

His mission to spread the teachings of his celestial guides ‘The Golden Ones’.

His ayahuasca experiences in Peru with a Shaman named Howard. How, why, and when, we allegedly choose to come to earth. Karma. Reincarnation. Free will vs Determinism and of course, his encounter with the angel of death.

The full episode is available now wherever you find podcasts available and believe me, it is very much worth a listen.

Alright gang, if you haven’t caught this weeks episode of DIMED OUT yet, then that is something you’ll wanna push towards the top of your ‘to do’ list.

This week I had the pleasure of chatting with introvert strategist about all things social anxiety and introverted.

If you haven’t caught this weeks podcast episode we’re looking at two distinctive American institutions.

Church & Prison.

Regarding the latter we dig into some pretty awful projections based on research from the good folks

The focus for the episode however is on 2 of the most infamous tests conducted during the Harvard Psilocybin Experiments in the 60s.

The Concord Prison Experiment & The Good Friday Experiment.

Both of which looked at the potential effects of Psilocybin.

Namely, can it help with criminal rehabilitation & can it bring spiritual people closer to god?

You can find & hear the episode in full whenever podcasts are available OR via the link in my bio.

Alright gang, just in time for the 4th of July…this weeks podcast is looking at psychedelics, the American prison system and God.

After numerous diversions I’m finally getting round to tackling Timothy Leary.

A Psychologist. An advocate for Psychedelics and free thinking. A provocateur and a counterculture icon.

Cited as both “the most dangerous man in America” and a “hero of American consciousness” Leary has been, for decades, an interesting figure to say the least.

But rather than dive into a biographical exploration of Leary, in this weeks podcast episode we’re looking at two of the most infamous experiments attached to his name.

The Concord Prison Experiment and The Good Friday Experiment.

Two pivotal moments in psychedelic research that ask two distinct questions.

Can drugs actually help with criminal rehabilitation and can they bring you closer to god?

A LIFE EXPECTANCY OF 27 SECONDS.

DIMED OUT - SEASON 4, EPISODE 10

Alright gang, on this weeks podcast episode I’m joined by the truly inspirational Dr Kevin Payne.

From being terrified of his own body to revelling in the perspective found in the church of altitude, Kevin’s story is really quite remarkable.

After years of suffering from multiple sclerosis. Enduring personal loss. Trauma and emotional depletion, he gave himself one last chance.

After using his academic background to rebuild himself and taking to the skies in order to live his life well, he’s now inspiring others to do the same.

This is truly a remarkable story and one of the perspective shifting interviews I’ve conducted so far.

It’s available now wherever podcasts are available.

ALSO be sure to check out
Kevin’s book, podcast and all the other wonderful stuff he’s doing over at

12/06/2022

I had the pleasure of sitting in and being a part of an eye opening episode of Beyond Binary Thinking today where we looked at and scored a number of right wing commentators/content creators.

Really fun episode, go check it out too see who’s placed in the higher tiers.

DIMED OUT

Season 4, Episode 8

Alright gang, this week we’re talking about a place that has left a permanent mark on my being, The Museum of Broken Relationships.

Not just that, but I’m discussing the museum with it’s former director, the wonderful Alexis Hyde.

During our conversation Alexis digs into how she got he job curating the museum.

How the experience was a whole. The numerous everyday and extraordinary items that were displayed.

The all too human stories that accompanied them and naturally we get into a variety of side topics such as empathy and the cathartic process of letting go.

Back in 2016 when I travelled to Los Angeles to finish the solo adventure that fell short the year prior, I made a few discoveries.

None more lasting and affective than the Museum of Broken Relationships

Which to this day is hands down one of my favourite museums of all time.

Recently, amazingly, I had the privilege to chat with former director of the museum, the lovely Alexis Hyde.

You can hear that conversation in full this Thursday in the latest episode of DIMED OUT.

I know we’re not supposed to have favourite episodes, but this is easily one of them.

I love the concept of this museum, the ex*****on & the way it can rewire perspective whilst still resonating deeply on a personal level.

If you’ve never heard of it then DO NOT GOOGLE IT (just yet).

Go in to the episode blind and revel in the spectrum of emotion it has to offer ❤️

DIMED OUT - Season 4, Episode 6: Bizarrism with Mercer Blackwell

Short clip from this weeks podcast episode in which I got to chat with a Bizarrist by the name of Mercer Blackwell.

Season 4, Episode 5 - Rage Room

Alright gang, this week we’re letting it all out of our system.

In the first (of hopefully more) experience episodes in Season 4, I smashed the bejesus out of some Christmas crockery.

Rage Rooms or Smash Rooms as they’re also known, seem to have grown in popularity since and during the pandemic.

Admittedly they do seem to be quite the cathartic release. To see if this is the case or if they’re simply just a gimmicky day out, I visited a local Rage Room and let rip upon a crate of glass bottles and other smash-able items. 🔨 💥

Season 4, Episode 3. Mr Master - Part 1

Alright gang, this week I’m joined by my second guest for Season 4, Gabriel Jacob Luansing. They call him Mister Master because he told them so.

Gabriel aka Mr Master, is an avant-garde MC initially influenced by Nerdcore who is determined to put his own spin on the Hip Hop genre.

In the first of a two part conversation we talk about a whole bunch o’ stuff including his Ultra project, annotating Genius pages, human beings need to establish patterns, academia in Hip Hop, and long form conversations.

Whilst waiting for the concluding part of our conversation next week, be sure to check out the work of Mr Master.
