Episode 8 of Season 3 is out now!

We’ve heard about Ally’s art. We’ve heard about Marlita’s art. Today, we focus on Jonny’s or, should I say, Barrowclough’s. If hip-hop geekery is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. If it’s not, don’t worry though. The conversation explores the kaleidoscopic nature of art, the joys of collaboration, the unusual ways in which Christianity infiltrates culture and how we all can find our places in our artforms.

"It is right and okay to want to be understood but at the same time I feel we, as artists can fall into the sin of resenting the church for not understanding us when what we do is very difficult to understand. Do we have the same generosity of spirit that we want to be shown to us? Am I really interested in the person in my congregation who is a plumber and I want to understand their work, I want to know the difficulties of it, because if I’m not, why should there be in me?"

From S3 Ep. 4 with guest speaker Anselm McDonnell , an Irish/Welsh Composer based in Belfast, working with experimental and avant garde compositions.

Building on the last episode’s focus on the avant garde, the conversation moves on to music in general. How is music different to other artforms and how does music specifically relate to Christianity? After all, it’s just wiggly air, isn’t it?

"I have never really wrangled with the issue of my art needing to be evangelistic because to me it’s always been "Well, I’m making art, that’s glorifying God." It doesn’t need to be justified beyond that because God made it part of his creation and he made it good."

From S3 Ep. 3 with guest speaker , an Irish/Welsh Composer based in Belfast, working with experimental and avant garde compositions.
