Genus: Grammostola

Species name: Grammostola Pulchripes

Common name: Chaco golden knee formerly known as “Grammostola aureostriata”

Type: Terrestrial

Category: New World Tarantula





The Grammostola Pulchripes or formerly known as Grammostola aureostriata which derive from latin word aureus means “golden” and striatus which means “striped” also known as “Chaco golden knee”. Its also known to inhabit on grasslands of Argentina and Paraguay, which they are able to adopt with alternate climate of dry and rainy season. It is also a larger breed of tarantula that can reach up to 8.5 Inch (20-22cm).

The Species classified as New world tarantula, The Grammostola Pulchripes will try to flee at first persistent provocation it can result in use of urticating setae. The Grammostola Pulchripes is a very calm and docile tarantula, bites are relatively rare like other new world tarantula Venom level of this species is not harmful to human. They are an opportunistic burrowing terrestrial tarantula: they tend to burrow while younger and adopt a pre-existing hide as its home when it begins to mature. The life expectancy of a female Grammostola Pulchripes can live from 15 to 20 years. While Mature Male have a short lifespan of 3 to 6 years.

The Grammostola Pulchripes is a very calm and docile tarantula, which, along with its striking appearance and large size, makes it an attractive pet. It is also one of the most common Tarantula that is advisable for the beginners as a starter in the hobby of exotic keeping.

Species name: Poecilotheria metallica

Common name: Gooty sapphire ornamental, Metallic blue ornamental, Gooty tarantula.

Type: arboreal

Category: Old World Tarantula

Poecilotheria metallica, also known as the Gooty sapphire ornamental is one of the common and popular among tarantula enthusiasts. As an exotic pet it’s been kept and bred in captivity for almost 10 years. Gooty sapphire ornamental, is an Old World species of tarantula that can easily distinguished from other Poecilothera species by its metallic blue coloration. The Name “Gooty” derive from the place where the first Species was discovered however it was too be said that Species of Poecilotheria metallica was transported in a railway timber yard in Gooty.The origin of Poecilotheria metallica is located on the forest of “Andhra Pradesh” in Central southern India.

Like Other Arboreal tarantula Poecilotheria metallica lives on crevices of an old tree or any opening on a tall trees where it can make a tunnel webs. As it was known because of its beautiful coloration and being skittish Poecilotheria Metallica will try to flee first however provocation may result of a bite.The venom from Poecilotheria genus is more potent than other old world tarantula.Bite from this species is consider medically significant it can cause intense pain, heart rate increase, cramping and swelling that can last up to a week or the effect of a extreme bite may be felt for a month.

A fully grown mature Poecelotheria Metallica leg span can reach from 6 to 8 inches. A Female life span typically lives for 11 to 15 years while male are given a short lifespan of 2 to 4 years. It lives in tropical humid and warm area In captive humid environment is preferred.

CAUTION: Poecelotheria Metallica is not a beginner species its not advisable to those new in the hobby due to its quickness and venom potent.

IMPORTANCE: Poecelotheria Metallica is “Critially Endangered” to save this species don’t buy wild caught instead get them from successful captive breeders.

Opalines ay isa sa mga bagong mutations ng isang species ng lovebirds at na diskobre ito noong 1977.Ito ay inilalarawan base sa kulay ng ulo nito hangang sa baba ng leeg,at ang kulay ng dulo ng buntot nito ay sya ring kulay ng ulo ng ibon. habang ang kulay naman ng katawan nito ay hangang sa rump na tila walang halong ibang kulay. At ang wing naman nito ay mas lighter ang kulay at nag papakita ng tila kaliskis sa kanilang pakpak.Opaline mutation ay isang s*x linked at ito ay kailngan present sa isa sa mga ibon para makapag palabas ng (visual) at ang male naman ay kinakailngan ng dalawang kopya ng opaline genes para ito ay maging visual, at ang male na may isang kopya ng gene ng opaline ay tinatawag na (split).

Ang Opalines mutation ay isa sa pinaka magandang mutations ng ibon at ito ay isa sa mga common na binebreed ng mga keeper ng lovebird mapa eye-ring or non-eyering.

Common name: Orange baboon Tarantula (OBT) ,Mombasa Golden Starburst Tarantula, Usambara Baboon, Orange bitey thing and Pterro.

Type: Terrestrial

Category: Old World Tarantula “Not recommended for beginners”



Ang Pterinochilus Murinus o kilala sa tinatawag na “OBT” ay isa sa mga Common na inaalagaan sa mundo ng exotic keeping dahil sa taglay nitong coloration at behavior.Ito ay orihinal na natagpuan sa kontinente ng Africa Isa rin itong meyembro ng subfamily ng “Harpactirinae”(common called Baboon tarantula).Sila ay Ground dwelling tarantula at kilala sa hobby na isa sa magagandang heavy webber.

Ang Pterinochilus murinus ay Tinuturing na isa sa mga aggressive/ defensive na tarantula. Sila ay may taglay na bilis at tulad din ng ibang Old world tarantula ang kanilang taglay na venom ay mas mataas kesa sa mga new world na tarantula. Pag sila ay na provoke or threaten sila ay agad agad na mag iinflict ng pag Kagat bago mag pakita ng kanilang threat posture. Ang pag kagat ng isang Pterinochilus murinus ay hindi ganun ka seryoso o harmful sa tao subalit ang kagat nito ay extremely painful at mag iiwan ng swollen area kung saan ito ay nakakagat.

CAUTION: hindi ito recommended sa mga beginners na wala pang experience sa pag aalaga ng mga tarantula dahil sa bilis at venom na taglay nila. Subalit kung kayo ay beginner at gusto nyo ng ganitong species ng T’s Ang advice ko is Alerto kayo when feeding or rehousing dahil may chance na mag climb sila sa tongs / tweezers so be very careful and vigilant.

May ibat ibang Colorform ang Pterinochilus murinus ito ay ang mga sumusunod “TCF – typical colour form, UMV – Usambara Mountain variant, RCF – red colour form, DCF – dark colour form”. Ang isang female P.Murinus ay lumalaki mula 4 inch to 6 inch. Habang nag male nmn ay nag rarange mula 3 inch to 4 inch.Tulad ng ibang tarantula mas matagal ang life span ng isang female T’s. Ang life expectancy ng isang female P.murinus ay 12 to 15 years habang ang male naman ay kayang mabuhay ng 3 to 4 years.

Ang Proper Enclosure para sa P.Murinus ay Dry condition with water dish para kahit papano my humidity dahil ito ay mas sanay sa dry area and mataas na substrate para sa kanilang burrows. And ang enclosure nila ay dapat mas Malaki sa kanila ng 3 times or malawak para makagawa ng ibat ibang burrow entry at medjo mataas dahil ang P.murinus ay nag papakita ng arboreal behavior.iwasan ang over feeding or power feeding dahil ito ay hindi nakakabuti sa ating mga Tarantula mas ok ang once or twice a week of feeding.
