From naive beginnings to knowledgeable cadets and cadettes they have become; they have indeed come a long way. As they reminisce on the memories forged throughout their journey, the UCLM NSA 29th batch cadets and cadettes march for the last time as 3rd class. They performed their final dance, hearts filled with both sadness for the impending parting and anticipation for the embarkation that lies ahead.
Witness the last dance of the UCLM-NSA 29th Batch cadets and cadettes as they carry out their final pass in review. They do so to honor their alma mater, the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, as well as their respective sponsoring companies and the Norwegian Shipowners' Association. And of course, to honor their families who supported them in every step of the way, and friends for the invaluable experiences they've had throughout their journey.

As we go about our lives and our professions, we ought to sharpen ourselves with the experiences and lessons we acquire along the way. Capt. Primo Ronald Tamares, as a seasoned seafarer and a master of his profession, shared the numerous valuable lessons he had learned throughout his experience as a seafarer. One of which is safety first. "Safety is paramount in maritime operations," states Capt. Primo. He holds great importance to safety and considers it one of the most important priorities of any profession. He also learned intrapersonal lessons, which include self-discipline, adaptability, and resilience. These aspects go hand in hand in order to be able to perform at your very best in all shipboard operations while also getting better at the profession itself along the way. Some interpersonal lessons he has learned are teamwork, attention to detail, and cultural awareness. The crewmates you have on the ship will be your important companions on the voyage. Keeping harmony among yourselves while maintaining respect and boundaries is a must for an efficient voyage. Lastly, Capt. Primo emphasized that seafarers should learn how to save their hard-earned money. Although seafaring is indeed widely acknowledged as one of the highest-salary jobs, being able to finance is still a crucial lesson that seafarers need in their profession.

As D/C Verallo embarked in his first time as a cadet, he shared some inspiring tips for aspiring cadets who are nearing their sea service.
According to him, being mentally and physically tough are what's important when you go onboard your first contract as you will face the roughest seas and the most unpredictable situations onboard. Thus, being tough in both aspects is a great key to always be prepared. Don't give up that easily. By all means necessary keep moving.

Seafaring is indeed known for a very meticulous job and is a demanding profession. It will involve you to be in isolation, rigorous work schedules, and being exposed to harsh weathers at sea. As D/C Ijan took on his fist contract as a cadet, he shared how he took care of his mental health.
For him, continuing your hobbies on board is a great way to relieve yourself from the work stresses. A good escape can also be found in having a good relationship between your crewmates as it creates a harmoniuos working place onboard. Also, having someone to share your wins and losses in life on board is indeed a great way to overcome your mental hurdles.
But, as D/C Ijan stated, it is with a good time and task management that surely help you avoid mental stresses onboard.

A Special Salute For A Special Day As early as the birds, the outstretched arms of our noble teachers are up to tame the worms inside of a four-cornered room with an immense exertion of effort to awaken the minds of multitalented individuals. They are the ones responsible for molding who we are today. A leap of faith indeed for them who also have their families awaiting their return as they leave their second home for the day. Under a vein-rupturing pressure and above the staggering heat of stress, this 5th day of October shall put a halt to all of those for it is the best day to give our snappiest salute, the dearest endearment, and the fullness of our appreciation to our dear teachers. Happy Teachersโ Day! "KALAYAAN NG LUPANG HINIRANG" Dakilang kang mandirigma Pilipinas hangad mong lumaya Dahil sayong dedikasyon na lumaban Pilipinas natamo ang kalayaan Sa pagdaan at paglipas ng panahon, Kagitingan moโy di hahayaang mabaon Sedulaโy iyong tinastas, itak ay yung itinaas Andres Bonifacio pangalang di maglalaho Salamat sa iyo at kasarinlan di nagbago Bayaning di namin makakalimutan, Pagkaโt pinalaya mo ang Lupang Hinirang. This day we commemorate the heroism of Andres Bonifacio, the Father of the Philippine Revolution, who fought for the freedom that every Filipino is indulging right now. He dauntlessly founded the Katipunan and his dedication to protect the Pearl of the Orient Seas unravels the Philippine Independence. Mabuhay ang KKK, Long Live the Philippines! Recognize the Past, Reside in the Present, Recline towards the Future. It is by our previous experiences - be it positive or negative, that we get to carry on with our lives and be strengthened as we go. Failures may tremble our sails but it is through those that weโll be able to rise above the heavy waves of life. As we immerse ourselves in the present, may we always keep in mind that no good deed will be left unrewarded. Want your business to be the top-listed Media Company?
Some of the unforgettable events in 2010 are the two massive earthquakes that hit Haiti and Chile, the Malaria-Proof Mosquito Laser that reduced malaria infection rates, and the world's tallest skyscraper, Burj Khalifa, which surpassed other high-rise structures built around the world. That year was indeed a roller coaster ride.
Multiple companies fell and rose, specific brands came into fame, and many organizations were created. Thenceforth, in the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue Campus, a few cadets established a student publication named the College of Maritime Education- Nautilus or COME Nautilus. COME Nautilus served the maritime department and the entire UCLM through writing for 10 years and counting. Through ages, responsible and hardworking Regular and NSA Cadets managed it, headed by different Editors-in-Chief which steered the organization through crests and troughs.
Listed below are the EIC's of COME Nautilus:
2010-2011: D/C Bulilan โ Pilot Regular
2011-2012: E/C Potot, Evhraim โ NSA (18th Batch)
2012-2013: D/C Corona, Alrio โ Pilot Regular
2013-2014: E/C Emnas, Jeffrey โ NSA (18th Batch)
2014-2015: D/C Ramos, Kevin โ NSA (19th Batch)
2015-2016: D/C Son, John Rolly โ NSA (20th Batch)
2016-2017: D/C Yoon, Chinju โ NSA (23rd Batch)
2017-2018: D/C Ibanez, John Michael โ NSA (22nd Batch)
2018-2019: D/C Yoon, Chinju โ NSA (23rd Batch)
2019-2020: D/C Lazarte. John Henry โ NSA (24th Batch)
2020-2021: D/C Beniga, Cedric Vince- NSA (26th Batch)
The COME Nautilus' purpose is to provide an annual issue of outputs for the department towards the maritime students. Since the beginning, COME Nautilus has continually delivered and presented numerous interesting, factual, and creative stories to connect all the readers to the maritime world, which in turn, make them consciously involved in that bailiwick. Through staffers' effort, a plethora of articles are posted on its online platform, and one of a kind stories such as literary pieces, sports articles, feature articles, comics strips, and digital arts are encased in an annual magazine. The organization continues to urge all interested and passionate cadets to explore their skills in writing, designing, and layouting.
With the succorance and supervision of the erstwhile and incumbent maritime superintendents, maritime faculties, and publication advisers, the official student publication of the UCLM Maritime Education, COME Nautilus, developed as a legitimate part of the university which led to covering events, sharing stories, and navigating the truth, within and outside the campus. Thus, it aims to promote not only the world of Maritime but also the school as a whole.
Service through sound journalism: a must for COME Nautilus. Industry and passion: a must for the staffers.
