Damn, we’re living in crazy times. Noise coming at us 24-7 in every direction. Contradictions of contradictions of contradictions of spin, propaganda, conspiracy, half-truths, outright lies and everything else in-between. So today we’re rejoicing that a record like Grayson Capps’ Heartbreak, Misery & Death has come along - simple, honest, gritty, pure - the circle of the song introduced to him by his father and friends somewhere in the deep heart of an Alabama night in the ‘70s, spinning records, passing around the guitar and all other means of spirit, singing the melodies and mythology of the bards like Doc Watson, Jerry Jeff Walker, The Louvin Brothers, Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan and so many others whose names are lost to the haze of times gone, now passed along to us. Music is love, aura-cleansing, soul-affirming, and all the good things! 💔💀💧

“Columbus Stockade Blues,” the second single from Grayson Capps forthcoming album, ‘Heartbreak, Misery & Death’ is streaming now wherever you listen! 💀💧💔

Originally written and recorded by Thomas Darby and Jimmie Tarlton in 1927 and later cut by artists including Doc Watson, Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys and Willie Nelson. Its lyrics are sung from the perspective of a man imprisoned in Columbus, Georgia.

The jail referenced in the song was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and a monument was erected by the Historic Chattahoochee Commission and the Historic Columbus Foundation in 1985.

The Means of Production, six of Brooklyn’s most captivating subterranean improvisers, have released their self-titled, debut LP. As psych outlet of record @ravensingstheblues recently noted, “...sparkling with heady hues and pristine curves.” Comprised by Matt Gibbs, Ben Pirani, Tre D’Ambrocia, Rafferty Swink, Pat Carr and Jay Mumford, their histories weave through credits of artists like Evolfo, Sinkane, Lizzie No, Ralph Weeks and Madlib. Initially formed to back Ben Pirani, The Means would forge a tight musical bond over the ensuing years of touring, rehearsing and embracing ‘60s no edits style recording sessions for Pirani’s @coleminerecords’ output. A natural evolution took place as the kinetic chemistry between the 6 members led to free-form musical experimentation. The Means began to explore the farthest reaches of their connection. Those urgent instrumental takes became what sits before you - a genre-defying kaleidoscope of electric jazz, psych and soul, reverberating through their own telepathic transmissions.
