Namma Gubbi Henceforth the place acquired the name Gubbi.

It is believed that two gubbachchis or sparrows , which used to listen to Amaragunda Mallikarjuna, a Virashaiva saint expound the Puranas, fell dead on the day that the exposition was concluded .
