Officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), busted an alleged overaged boy who presented himself as 14 years old when the officials were scouting for talents for the national U-15 team. His looks drew suspicion because he looked huge in stature compared to a normal 14-year-old. Leader of the scouting team and member of GFA Executive Council, Samuel Anim Addo, inspected his skull and teeth to validate his age. There was huge traffic buildup on the Tema Motorway Wednesday, following a demolition exercise by the Tema West Assembly in Accra. So far, the Assembly has demolished over 200 wooden structures in the area popularly known as Kiosk Estate. It is home to over 500 squatters along the motorway. One of the affected squatters told Joy News’ Matilda Wemegah that she does not have anywhere to place her kiosk. [ 257 more words ]

Government has announced its preparedness to increase the research funding of tertiary education teachers from 0.3% to one per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Also, government’s budgetary allocation to tertiary education shall be at least 2.5 per cent of GDP while at least 50 per cent of the Ghana Education Trust Fund budget allocation shall be disbursed to tertiary education. It has emerged that the kidnappers of the two women in the last week demanded an €710871.20 ransom.

This was brought to light when six of the eight suspects arrested in connection with the crime were put before an Accra High Court today, Friday.

Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta has called on Israel and countries that are part of the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast Meeting ( ) movement, to help build a to transform Ghana.

It has emerged that an explosive weapon was found among the arsenal of the kidnappers of the two Canadian ladies rescued on Wednesday. Pro-government newspaper, Daily Guide, reports on Friday, June 14 that besides the gr***de, the kidnappers had an assortment of fi****ms “which were kept for defensive and offensive purposes.” Already, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said during a press briefing on the rescue of Lauren Patricia Catherine Tilley, 19, and Bailey Jordan Chitly, 20, that the members of the rescue mission faced significant firepower from the kidnappers. At least, two residents of Kenyasi-Achiase have been forced out of their homes to seek refuge elsewhere following threats of deaths over the rescue of kidnapped Canadian women. They say people they believe are aligned with suspects arrested in connection with the incident, are hounding them with accusation they gave tip-off to the security. A Ghanaian and two Nigerians locked up in Trinidad and Tobago for various immigration offenses, are set to regain their freedom after President Akufo-Addo’s intervened. The Ghanaian, Musa Ibrahim, was arrested by border agency officials of Trinidad and Tobago while travelling by sea with his child to neighbouring Venezuela. Upon his arrest, they requested that he called his wife to show up at the immigration office to prove that he had ties in Trinidad and Tobago.
