Coming in hot with the fall flavors, specifically pumpkin! 🎃

First bread pictured is our pumpkin spice babka ✨a pumpkin spice sour dough filled with brown sugar and cinnamon, topped with a cream cheese frosting. 🙌🏻

The last two pictures are our pumpkin crumble babka. A classic sourdough with a pumpkin and brown sugar filling, topped with a brown sugar cinnamon crumble 🫠

The balance between sweet and sour makes these dessert breads to DIE for. Let me know if you want to place an order, they will be available for pickup next week!

Happy October! 🍂 The adrenaline has worn off and we’ve all been in hibernation mode and napping A LOT (including the animals). We are living with the season and taking this time of year to slow down and enjoy our time spent together. 🫶🏻

I have an exciting order for this week and I can’t wait to share it with you all! 🍞

Having my own kitchen is something I never realized I took for granted… until I didn’t have one anymore. 🥲

Our new home has no microwave and instead of running out to buy one I saw this as an opportunity to dive even deeper into how I make our food. Sure, it’s not super convenient BUT, after learning about EMFs and the potential cancer causing effects they have, I’m happy to spend the extra 5 minutes to heat something up! Especially since thyroid cancer CAN be caused by being exposed to high levels of radiation. 😳 really makes you wonder!

Btw - I had half a can of pumpkin and 2 super ripe bananas to use up so I whipped up a healthy(ish) banana, pumpkin, chocolate chip cake! Topped with cream cheese icing… 🤤 so good. So happy to be back! 👩🏻‍🍳

Missing our wildflower bed 🌼 it was by far our favorite section of the garden this year! The kids loved watching the bees and butterflies bounce around and it’s safe to say we did, too! 🐝🦋

Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation.

I saw that quote on someone else’s post a couple weeks ago and saved it because I wanted to refer back to it when I got to this day. Starring at what once was our very lively, chaotic, colorful home. Now it’s empty and painted white ready for our landlord to move back in.

I could write a novel about how much this home meant to us. This is the only place Salem, Ghost and Honey have ever known. It’s been the venue for so many gatherings and good times. It was a slice of heaven in a crazy world. Our safe space. We will cherish our time here forever

It also just so happens that our lease ends on the same day as the super blue moon, a rare event that only happens every couple years. Every full moon is a chance to release, reflect, remember, reset. Sounds like exactly what we need.

Impress your loved ones with this super easy homemade marshmallow frosting! 🤗

You only need 4 ingredients!
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 4 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Put all of the ingredients into a double boiler and stir until sugar is dissolved (I find it takes around 5 to 10 minutes)

Add your liquid into your mixer with your whisk attachment and let it mix until the frosting is glossy and stiff! To test it, hold your whisk up like I am in this picture. If it holds it’s shape, it’s good to go! 🤍

*Make sure your cake is completely cool before using this frosting or it will melt*

We have made the decision to take a break from selling any of our homemade bread and canned goods for the entire month of September to allow our family time to adjust to our new “normal” - it’s been a huge adjustment so we’re taking as much off of our plate as possible until we’re feeling a little more settled.

We’ll see you in October with all things pumpkin, apple and fall! 🎃🍎🍞🍂

If you’re harvesting lettuce and can’t eat it quick enough, this is the best way to preserve it! 🥬

I take a long roll of paper towels, make them damp, place the lettuce in a single layer on top, roll it up, but it in a ziplock baggie and put it in the fridge! Fresh, crispy lettuce every time 😋

Our newest menu item is… Sourdough Focaccia! 🥳Focaccia is a flat leavened oven-baked Italian bread. I first discovered my love for this bread at my first job, Panera! We also tried out a new flavor combo, Italian herb + cheese 🙌🏻 if you dip this in marinara, it tastes like pizza 🤤

I’m taking orders for the week so let me know what you need! We have a bunch of eggs, too 🐓

Did you know, globally, nearly one-fifth of all food produced is never eaten? 🫣

When food waste decomposes in landfills, without the right organisms and conditions to break down (like it would in compost), it creates the greenhouse gas methane as it degrades.

So, what can we do to help prevent that? Feed your food scraps to some chickens! Or in our case, chickens, ducks and bunnies. 🐣🦆🐰

I’m Belgium, a study was conducted that showed 6,000 chickens were able to reduce 100 tons of waste into the local landfill in the first month after their 3 chicken per household program began. Crazy right?!

We all know and love Hershey’s strawberry syrup 🍓 It’s amazing on top of ice cream or mixed in milk… but the ingredients aren’t great, and there’s a lot of them. 😅

Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup: high fructose corn syrup, water, corn syrup, artificial flavor, citric acid, sodium benzoate, xanthan gum and artificial dye, red 40.

Our homemade strawberry syrup: Strawberry tops, water, granulated sugar. 🙌🏻

Ours doesn’t last as long because it’s preservative free but it’s so yummy that it won’t last long anyways 🤪 let us know if you need one… or two 🫶🏻
