Tales From Aztlantis does not endorse nor promote Joe Rogan, but we want to return the shout-out to archaeologist Flint Dibble who went on the show recently to “debate” the Grand Poobah of pseudoarcheology, Graham Hancock. Thank you for doing the hard work of defending professional archeology in public. For more on this topic, see our recent Thursday Throwback, “Graham Hancock & Atlantis Reborn!”

INALMIKI: Tupac Enrique Huehuecoyotl
Your Tales From Aztlantis hosts are saddened by the recent passing of Tupac Enrique Huehuecoyotl, of the Tonatierra-Nahuacalli community of Phoenix. We deeply mourn the loss of one of our original and long-lasting warriors and send our deepest condolences to his family and those who were close to him. Tupac worked tirelessly for over 40 years representing our community at the national and international level. His pioneering work as our Indigenous Chicano representative within the United Nations Human Rights Commission is invaluable and deserves our eternal gratitude. Walk in peace with the ancestors. Tupac Enrique Huehuecoyotl, presente!
If you haven't listened to the latest episode, we dive into the belief that the term "indio" for Indian (Native American) comes from Christopher Columbus' recognition that the indigenous people he encountered in the Bahamas were a people "in dio" or "with god," and not a reference to the country now called India. What's the source for this claim, and how factual is it? Listen and find out!
Today is Chicano Moratorium Day, a day that holds a significant place in our history. The politics of the time had an effect on our community. We spoke to Brandon Loran Maxwell last week about his documentary film, "American Homeboy," and touched on the politics of the Chicano Movement in relation to cholo culture. Have a listen.
