Looking at the current conditions here in Georgia, there is a Tornado watch for NW Georgia until 3am EST. There is some showers beginning to pop up in the area. North of Atlanta the temps are in the mid to upper 50s, NW Georgia in the 60s, and south of the city the temps are in the 60s. There is a stationary front just below the city of Atlanta that may help keep the weather from getting too bad. But we could still see some strong to severe storms containing heavy rains, frequent lightning, damaging winds, and the possibility of a tornado. The cold front is just now reaching central Mississippi. The line of storms stretches from the gulf coast to Canada.

BE SURE TO HAVE MULTIPLE WAYS OF GETTING ALERTS AS YOU GO TO BED. TURN ON YOUR WIRELESS WEATHER ALERTS & WEATHER RADIOS. Night time storms are very dangerous because you can't see them and you are asleep. Do not rely on outside warnings, they are meant for the outdoors.

The system from Texas and Arkansas will move into this area Friday morning into the evening hours. It will have the possibility of tornadoes, damaging winds and hail. Make sure you are prepared for severe weather and have your safety plans in place. Have multiple ways of getting alerts, a safe place for you and your pets, a flashlight, something to protect your head and all mobile devices are charged.

D4/Friday: Southeast...TN/OH Valleys...Carolinas...
An intense cyclone is forecast to move northeastward from the Ozark Region toward the lower Great Lakes through the day on Friday. In conjunction with the cyclone, modest low-level moisture will spread as far north as the OH Valley, with richer moisture expected farther south into parts of the Southeast/Carolinas. Relatively warm midlevel temperatures and weak lapse rates will tend to limit buoyancy across the warm sector, but very strong deep-layer flow/shear will support a damaging-wind and/or tornado threat with any robust convection along/ahead of the cold front.

Thursday and Friday severe weather alert for the Southeast. According to the Storm Prediction Center there is a possibility of a regional outbreak of severe weather on Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. This includes tornadoes (some of which could be strong), gusty winds and large hail. The guidance right now is showing an agreement on this occurring. This will only increase as it moves from Texas and Oklahoma into the deep south. This will continue into Friday with damaging winds, tornadoes and possibly some hail.
Now is the time to start preparing for the worst and pray for the best. Have your safety plans in place for you, your family and pets. Make sure all devices that have a battery back up is working. Have your plan of action in place and everyone understands what happens in case it is needed.
