A line of tornado warnings extends over 75 miles from the east St. Louis metro northward to Montgomery county in southern IL. This is a very damaging thunderstorm complex with tornadoes, large hail, & damaging wind. Be on alert across southern IL, this is heading towards the Effingham area in 1-2 hours!

Having problems with power at Franklin high school Franklin IL. Ameren has shut off power to work on it. Estimated repair time is 8 -10 hours. Not sure how the rest of the town is fairing…… seems like spotty electricity. I will say there is a TORNADO WATCH for most of Illinois. Please please please stay weather alert this afternoon and evening. This page will likely be very active the rest of the night!

A strong snow squall is moving through central Illinois bringing blizzard like conditions and heavy snow.

Expect visibility to drop down to 1/4 mile and roads to become snow packed. Snow will accumulate fast.

⚠️I’m asking everyone in Illinois and surrounding states that will be affected by the severe winter weather at the end of the week to stay vigilant for the next few days. Follow up on weather apps reliable social media weather outlets and the latest news forecasts. Hazards include dangerous cold, wind/ wind chill, snow and ice, and low visibility. Avoid traveling on Thursday if you can as conditions will be favorable for difficult transportation. I’ll be very active on this page sharing any weather updates I see or hear of. (9:30PM Sun, Nov 13th 2022) As several disturbances move through the region, a few associated periods of precipitation, including snow, will be likely across the state, from Monday night through Thursday morning.

Impacts...
•Periods of snow will impact portions of the state during a multi-day period, from Monday night through Thursday morning, Nov 14-17th.
•The most widespread and organized period of snow across the state will be from Monday night through Tuesday night.
•Snowfall accumulation of a dusting to 2” is expected across much of the state, with the potential for a few corridors of locally higher snowfall amounts of 2-3”.

A tornado warned storm is located over Milo, IL and moving southeast. This storm has damaging winds and hail too.

For reference, this storm is 13 miles SW of Princeton, 34 miles north of Peoria and 50 miles east of the Quad Cities
