The California Highway Patrol says a Friday morning crash killed a 14-year-old Dinuba boy, and badly hurt 3 other people.

The crash happened around 7:40 A.M. along Dinuba Boulevard (Highway 63), near Marlin Avenue, in northern Visalia.

The CHP says a 15-year-old boy was driving southbound on Dinuba Blvd. in a stolen 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with 2 passengers -- a 14-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl -- when he veered onto the shoulder and then overcorrected, driving into the path of an oncoming SUV.

Investigators say the impact sent both vehicles into a parked semi truck. They say the 14-year-old boy who died was seated in the back seat of the pickup and wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

The 15-year-old driver, the 14-year-old girl passenger, and the 27-year-old driver of the SUV all went to Kaweah Health Medical Center with what the CHP listed as "major" injuries.

If anyone in the Dinuba area can help the sheriff's office figure out who this man's family is, you can call 559-687-7002.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Office needs your help to find family members of a man who died in a crash.

The sheriff's office says Maurice Thompson was involved in the crash on July 15, 2022, and that a friend told deputies that he was from the Central Valley, but wasn't sure exactly where.

The sheriff's office is now asking family members of Mr. Thompson to get in touch with them at 559-687-7002 or 559-733-6218.

Dinuba is in the running for a $2.5 million park grant, according to the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

CDPR, better known as California State Parks, recommended the Viscaya Park project to the National Park Service for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant, along with 15 other local projects across the state.

If approved, the money for Viscaya Park would be "to construct a new playground, picnic pavilion, sports courts, walking and jogging path, dog park, outdoor exercise circuit training area, restroom, parking lot, park sign, perimeter fencing and landscaping throughout the park," according to a news release sent by California State Parks this morning.

It's unclear when the grants could be approved.

Projects in Hanford, Porterville, and Parlier were also recommended.
