Often bold architectural forms attract both appreciation & critique of the onlookers; however, the beauty of making such design choices is always reflective of the designer’s conviction. The La Midas Institute of Wellness in Gurgaon is one such piece of architecture that brings forth the finesse with which the architects have refurbished a twenty-year-old residential dwelling into a wellness centre.
"We are in the business of creating functional art, & we intend to do justice to this realm by adhering to a project-specific list of goals & objectives that we prepare for each project. This is an exhaustive exercise that factors for various tangible & functional aspects & intangible elements of the project at hand"

Historical Famalicão Municipal Market gets a new identity
Architect:
Photos by:
Opened on September 21st of 1952, the construction of the Famalicão Municipal Market had a dual purpose: on one hand to decongest the old fairgrounds (nowadays D. Maria II Square) and on the other hand to make a more pleasant space with better hygienic conditions. After a golden period, the Market presented itself, at the date of the intervention, as an obsolete space without a dynamic capacity to attract new and diversified consumers.

Contractors are the persons who help architects in realizing the dream of the structure on site; in this issue we are experimenting with an article to understand the view of a contractor on a project. With the right thought process, how it can weigh in realizing the dream for architects.
"We do not rely exclusively on aesthetics as a requirement for the choice of architects & projects. On the contrary, aesthetics is the result of the resolution of a good plan, with the design of spaces that are better configured. That is, a good design translates the conceptual of the project into a product with market acceptance"
Company likes to experiment not only with architecture, but also with new products & materials, constantly improving themselves. Materials & finishes stand out for their distinction & quality, with all details are being rigorously thought. Some of their works includes plastic artists, such as the hollow brick Raízes, by Ana Paula Castro, at Alpha House, or the tiled details at Angular House & Lumen House, adorning the houses, bringing refinement, luxury & distinction.

'Through the Viewfinder' - architectural photography

Argentina
"My interest in the discipline was first moved by my attraction towards buildings, I didn’t know what it was that captured my attention at that time, but I started to collect them by taking photos, which was a tool that I enjoyed but I never did regularly until then. & for quite some time I didn’t see photography as something serious, I was learning some things with a little old camera but I didn’t even see it as a hobby, & much less as a profession. But life went naturally down that road & I took photography at university,” expresses Emiliano Arias, he is an Argentina based architectural photographer.

Form & the play of Light

Marseille, France / Bucharest, Romania
As an architect by training & a photographer by passion, Adrien found this common ground of architectural photography satisfying him the most. The way humans are creating entire buildings & cities, & the relation we are creating to the build environment always amazes him. This interest lead Adrien to architecture, & photography is the tool he found to capture & show it.
"I think life experiences allow you to figure easier different sorts of situations. Deal with the uncertain & let space to spontaneity"
"I think everything resides in the way people act & approach architecture. Depending on the program, human behavior is totally different in a particular space, this is amazing & that is the way I see architectural photography"

The Dezine magazine is happy to announce the release of our current magazine issue as Sep-Oct 21 on the occasion of completing the two years to The Dezine magazine.
We are experimenting with some layout updates in this magazine issue. We are focusing on insightful architectural photography article that gives a different perspective on the correlation between the form of the structure & light with respect to the human behavior.

An architectural photography article that focuses on the way the architecture & the cities around us can positively transform our lives.   How our mind perceives its importance & how to capture that vision through the viewfinder.

Cover story article focuses on how science labs architecture can achieve the natural light through the planning of openings & at the same time keeping the required minimum balance of lighting in the labs, instead of depending on dead walls & artificial lightings.architectes

We are also focusing on the wellness centre architecture & interior. It is very transforming to see the process when you are working on functional projects such as healthcare but at the same time as an architect how you transform it into a functional art project, making it stand out.

Strokes of minimalism with colors of indigenous art, painted on a canvas of classical architecture
In the evolution of contemporary home design, over the last few decades, a nuclear family and a work-driven lifestyle began to define an Indian home. This novel Indian house in the heart of Gurugram can galvanize such modern Indian families. Rendered with memories and experiences of the user, the design of this home has numerous stories to tell.
As the fusion of styles outline the journey of spaces, the doors and moulding panels are sculpted in classical curves and true white, as they provide a neutral backdrop for the vibrant jewel tones derived from the rich culture of Rajasthan. Furniture, like the mirror unit in the daughter’s room, is straight out of movie design, customized to anticipate the informality of the space. Exposed columns are square-fluted, as a result of the inspiration from royal palaces of Rajasthan, adding to the fusion by being a part in the composition of the guest lounge.

The brick jaali was parametrically designed & oriented as a double-skin façade essentially to reduce the absorption of heat within the building. Studio managed to reduce heat by up to 70%, thus creating comfortable spaces for all occupants. The perforations provide diffused lighting in the dorms amounting to roughly 250 lux. The balconies located within the brick skin are 4 feet wide & act as a buffer zone between indoor & outdoor spaces, maintaining a steady temperature difference at all times of the year. The central atrium allows natural light to pe*****te deeper into the building & also acts as a solar chimney that dispels hot air within the building through the stack effect.
Zed lab draws inspirations from various elements of Indian architecture ranging from vernacular architecture to monumental structures, by studying & analysing vernacular architectural elements such as jaalis & jharokhas, materials used for climate-proofing, the scales of various spaces, & the interaction of spaces with the landscape, studio rearranges & reinterpret them in today’s context.

The objective of the project was the construction of a single-family house on a plot of extraordinary morphological characteristics, which remained almost intact and unchanged. The land, with
approximately 12 thousand square meters, is located in an area of natural protection due to the existence of several cork oak trees, where the implantation of the house allowed if the maintenance of all the existing trees is taken care of by the owner of the house.
